9. DRIVE/REVERB knob
Adjusts the depth of the effect. For electric
guitar-type sounds in Groups SL (Single)–HB
(Humbucker), this knob adjusts the drive gain.
For acoustic guitar-type sounds in Groups A1
(Acoustic 1)–SP (Special), and for other sounds,
this knob mainly adjusts the amount of reverb.
10. FX (effect)/ CANCEL button and LED
Turns the effect on/off. When the effect is on, the
LED is lit red. You can also press this button to
cancel the operation of writing to a user program.
11. Headphones jack
Connect headphones here.
If you use the DRIVE effect, the sound passes
through a guitar amp and cabinet simulator.
Setup
This section explains the basic setup procedure
for your VGA-3D.
Inserting batteries
Open the battery cover, and install four AA
batteries.
Be sure to insert batteries in the correct
orientation.
Replacing the batteries
If the power LED blinks, replace the batteries
with new ones.
The sound may become noisy if the battery
power is low.
Remove exhausted batteries immediately.
Exhausted batteries left installed may leak,
causing a malfunction. You should also
remove the batteries if you do not expect to
use the instrument for a long period of time.
Unsaved settings will be lost if the batteries
become exhausted, so save them before
this occurs.
To ensure that the time for battery replace-
ment is indicated correctly, you must make
the appropriate setting in "Specifying the
battery type."
Specifying the battery type
You must specify the type of batteries that you're
using; this ensures that the LED will blink at the
correct time when the batteries need replacement.
1. Make sure that the power is off.
2. While holding down the WRITE button, press
the power button to turn the power on. The
setting is changed, and the current setting is
indicated while you hold down the button.
Alkaline batteries
The WRITE LED is lit red.
Nickel-metal hydride batteries
The WRITE LED is lit green.
3. Release the button; the instrument starts up
normally.
TIP Alkaline batteries are specified when the
instrument is shipped from the factory.
TIP The battery type setting is remembered
even when the power is off.
Auto power-off function
The auto power-off function of this instrument
automatically turns the power off when approxi-
mately 30 minutes has elapsed since the guitar
was played or a knob operated. Once the power
turns off, operating a knob or selector does not
bring the power on again. To turn the power on
again, press the power button.
You can enable or disable the auto power-off
function.
1. Make sure that the power is off.
2. While holding down the FX/CANCEL button,
press the power button to turn the power on.
The setting changes, and the current setting
is indicated while you hold down the button.
If auto power-off is enabled
The power LED is alternately lit red and blue.
If auto power-off is disabled
The power LED is lit red.
3. Release the button; the instrument starts up
normally.
