Rx Probe
The probe has to be visually inspected every year at the beginning
of the season and during the season, to check if the probe is clean and
to clean it if necessary. A piece of humid rag can be used. The following
products can also be used:
. Detergents that are not too abrasive.
. In case of presence of scale or metallic hydroxides: Diluted
hydrochloric acid (from 0,1% to 3%) during 1 to 5 minutes.
. In case of presence of oil or grease: dissolvent like alcohol or
acetone.
. In case of presence of biological residues: Diluted hydrochloric acid
can be used . It is forbidden to use dissolvent like acetone to clean the
probe if they are made of plastic material.
It is very important to rinse sufficiently the probe after cleaning.
If the lateral diaphragm (ceramic material) of the reference system is
dirty, it can be cleaned by scratching slightly with the nail or with a blade
razor. The glass part of the probe must not have scratching traces.
The probes have to be stored humid. In order to do so, a KCL solution
can be used (in protection cap).
Attention
. The probes cannot stay too long as spares and it is not
recommended to keep spare probes in stock.
. Distilled water cannot be used since this will damage the probe
and shorten his life duration.
Visual inspection: The probes have to be checked and there should be
no air bubbles in the probe. In case of the presence of air bubbles, they
have to be eliminated by shaking the probe like a medical thermometer.
The probes of oxidizer have a limited life duration. Depending on how
they are used, this life duration of the probe is from 1 to 3 years.
The probe is a wearing part!
