9 - SERVICING
The ELT96 / 97 does not require particular servicing except inspections of Paragraph 5.
The "AUTO TEST" checks voltages of Lithium batteries and signals every problem which may cause
ELT failure.
NOTE :
Every six months, carry out three consecutive "AUTO TEST" sequences.
If there is any defect, contact AIR PRECISION.
A TEMPERATURE ABOVE 90° C (194° F) CAUSES CORROSIVE GAS ESCAPE.
IF AN INCIDENT OCCURS ON TRANSMITTER BATTERY SET
THE BATTERY WILL BE REPLACED WITHOUT REPLACEMENT OF "VALIDITY"
THIS PLACARD CAN ONLY BE REPLACED WHEN BOTH BATTERY SETS ARE
SIMULTANEOUSLY REPLACED IN ORDER TO KEEP THE BEACON SERVICE LIFE OF 4
NOTE :
Neutralization procedure of used batteries is described in the ELT96 / 97 "Component
Maintenance Manual".
Validity date of Lithium batteries is indicated on the case tag. They must be replaced under
circumstances given below.
The ELT may not be able to operate correctly in case of distress if :
the ELT is not programmed correctly,
-
the batteries validity date expired,
-
the batteries as been used for a period of 48 consecutive hours,
-
the batteries as been used for a period of 7 cumulative hours,
-
the front face switch of the ELT is not set on "AUTO" position during flight,
-
the antenna used is not approved of misconnected,

STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS
Store (if possible) the ELT at less than + 86° F (+ 30° C).
NOTE :
The passivation of batteries is accelerated at temperatures exceeding + 86° F (+30° C).
