Ultrasonic Barrier
Operating Manual
Applications
The ultrasonic barrier consists of an ultrasonic transmitter and a receiver
located opposite. The transmitter generates a continuous ultrasonic tone
which the receiver detects. If an object interrupts the ultrasonic beam, the
output signal changes.
For physical reasons, ultrasonic barriers must NOT be used
for personnel protection or EMERGENCY STOP functions.

Ther teminals are protected against reversed polarity, inherently short-
circuit-proof and overload-proof.
(L-) wire-break protection is built in.
If electrical faults occur, we advise the installation of shielded wires.
Adjusting sensitivity and range
Adjust the sensitivity using terminal "XI":
characteristics for more precise data:

minimum object width B for moving objects
minimum gap width L for moving objects

Notes
: Sensitivity limits apply under the following conditions
• ambient temperature of 20 °C
• minimum air movement
• optimum alignment of transmitter and receiver,
• objects with sharp edges
: Adjust sensitivity before power on!

Count different sizes of box on conveyor belt.
Belt size:
Width (w): 5 to 10 cm, height (h): 6 to 15 cm, depth (d): 8 to 25 cm
Conveyor belt width: D = 45 cm
Belt velocity: v = 2.5 m/s
Wanted: sensitivity adjustment (XI) for receiver and spacing (D)
between transmitter and receiver.
Solution:
In
enter the min. box width of w = 5 cm and the conveyor belt

Gap between bottles: L > 0.35 cm
Belt velocity: v = 3 m/s
Wanted: sensitivity adjustment (XI) for receiver and gap (D)
between transmitter and receiver.
Solution:
In Figure IVe enter the min. gap width L = 0.35 cm.
The characteristic produces: D < 30 cm
Adjust bottom sensitivity (XI to L+).
