First Time Operation

Follow the procedure below when using a second hard disk for the first time after purchas-
ing it.
CAUTION
In the standby or hibernation mode, do not install/remove the second hard disk drive pack.

Power off your computer
When inserting the second hard disk drive pack for the first time, be sure to insert it
after turning the computer off.

Removing the multimedia pocket device

Turn your computer over and open the cover
by sliding the latch A.

Slide and hold the latch B on the MP release
lever, then turn the MP release lever.

Remove the device by holding both sides of the
device.

Install the second hard disk drive pack
Gently insert the pack into the multimedia pocket
by pushing on both corners until it clicks into place.
CAUTION
Do not install the pack upside-down.
The bottom of the pack may become disfigured.
NOTE
Whether the second hard disk is properly recog-
nized or not can be confirmed in [Main] of the
Setup Utility. If the disk is not recognized by
the computer (or if the second hard disk cannot
be accessed), power off the computer and rein-
stall the pack.

Format the second hard disk
If the second hard disk is unformatted at the time of purchase, use the following proce-
dure to format the second hard disk after installing the second hard disk drive pack.
(The steps give an example. The user is free to determine the partition and file system
settings.)
