10 Pre-use checks

The safety of the User relies upon the continued efficiency and durability of the
equipment therefore pre-use checks shall be completed before each use.
Pre-use checks
Retraction
Lock-on
Lifeline and connectors
Load indicators
Method
Pull gently on lifeline - listen for
audible clicking.
Pull sharply on lifeline - check
device locks.
Operate connector:
Check correct operation. Check
for signs of damage/deterioration.
Check Lifeline energy absorber for
signs of deployment. Check entire
lifeline for any signs of corrosion,
damage or contamination.
Check load indicator is not
deployed.
