Main Burner Orifice
SIT Gas Valve Conversion Kit
Gas Conversion Label
Tools Needed: Standard Screwdriver, 1/4" Hex Driver, 5/16" Hex Driver, 3/8" and 7/16" Wrenches
Gas input for direct vent fireplace insert converted to Natural gas:
DVC20IN71 - 20,500 BTU per hour
DVC26IN71 - 26,000 BTU per hour
DVC28IN71 - 28,500 BTU per hour
The direct vent gas fireplace insert when converted to Natural
gas will have a manifold pressure of approximately 3.5" w.c.
(.871 kPa) at the valve outlet with the inlet pressure to the valve
from a minimum of 4.5" w.c. (1.120 kPa) for the purpose of input
adjustment to a maximum of 14.0" w.c. (3.484 kPa).
INSTRUCTIONS FOR CONVERSION
1. If the fireplace insert is installed, turn OFF gas and electric
supply to fireplace before making gas conversion.
2. Remove barrier screen. Refer to instructions provided with
the fireplace for removal information.
3. Release two glass frame spring clamps at bottom of firebox.
4. Remove glass frame assembly.
5. Remove logs from burner assembly.
6. Remove two 10 x 1/2" screws from rear log support. Remove
log support.
7. Remove four 10 x 1/2" screws from burner/grate base and
one 8 x 1/4" screw from air shutter. Grasp burner/grate base
assembly, lift and pull forward to remove burner assembly.
Use a screwdriver to gently separate the air shutter from the
burner venturi tube at rear of burner.
8. Remove air shutter from orifice fitting. Use a 3/8" and 1/2"
wrench to remove burner orifice.
9.
Remove Propane gas main burner orifice from orifice fitting.
10. Install Natural gas main burner orifice into orifice fitting:
for DVC20IN71 USE ORIFICE MARKED 44
for DVC26IN71 USE ORIFICE MARKED 40
for DVC28IN71 USE ORIFICE MARKED 2.60 mm
11. Thread air shutter onto orifice fitting.
12. Pull upward on pilot hood to remove and gain access to pilot
injector orifice.

13. Remove Propane gas pilot injector orifice from pilot burner
with 5/32" hex (Allen) wrench.
14. Insert Appropriate Natural gas pilot injector orifice into
pilot burner using the 5/32" hex wrench.
15. Re-install pilot hood to pilot assembly. Push downward to
snap in place.
16. Convert the gas valve as instructed in S.I.T. Natural Gas
Valve Conversion Kit.
17. Align burner assembly/grate base with the air shutter as you
place burner assembly into the original position in firebox.
18. Adjust air shutter setting to 1/8" Open on DVC20IN71
models, and 3/16" Open setting on DVC(26,28)IN71
models.
19. Attach air shutter to burner assembly with one 8 x 1/4" screw
from Step 7.
20. Attach burner assembly/grate base to firebox bottom with
four 10 x 1/2" screws from Step 7.
21. Attach rear log support with step 10 x 1/2" screws from Step 6.
22. The converted fireplace must be connected to a supply of
the conversion gas and checked for leaks at all connections.
23. Refer to Log and Ember Placement in your Installation
Instructions and Ownerʼs Manual to place logs onto burner
assembly.
24. The fireplace must be checked to ensure it is operating at
the correct pressure of 3.5" w.c.
25. Replace glass frame onto firebox.
26. Secure the two glass frame spring clamps at bottom of
firebox to secure glass door assembly.
27. Replace the barrier screen assembly. Refer to instructions
provided with the replacement for removal information.
28. Gas conversion is completed.
