Battery information

Battery charging
The solar panel can fully charge a flat battery in
two weeks, provided that the energizer is
switched off and that there is adequate
sunlight. A battery charger may also be used to
charge the battery. Use a battery charger
suitable for charging sealed, lead-acid batteries.

Warning!
The battery must be
disconnected and removed from the
energizer before connecting it to a battery
charger.

When fully charged, the specified battery should
be able to power the energizer for up to two
weeks with no sunlight.
Battery details
When purchasing a new or a replacement
battery, use a 6 V, 4 Ah rechargeable sealed
lead-acid battery.
Warning!
Do not use a non-rechargeable
battery.
Removing and inserting the battery
To undo the battery compartment:

6.9 V, ≤ 0.5 A
1 Place the energizer face-down on a flat
surface (solar panel downwards as
shown). Undo the two screws securing the
battery compartment.
2 Slide the battery compartment away from
the energizer.
To remove the battery:
1 Disconnect the red and black leads
connecting the battery to the energizer.
2 Lift out the battery.
Caution!
When connecting the battery, be
careful not to short-circuit the supply terminals.
To install a new or recharged battery:
1 Undo the battery compartment and if
necessary, remove the old battery (see
instructions above).
2 Insert the new or recharged battery into
the battery compartment.
3 Connect the positive (red) lead to the
positive (+) terminal on the battery.
4 Connect the negative (black) lead to the
negative (-) terminal on the battery.
Caution!
When connecting the battery, be
careful not to short-circuit the supply terminals.
To secure the battery compartment:
Slide the battery compartment back into place
and secure it with the two screws.
