3 Applications
GB
The MDR-219DSP is a stereo effect unit with 255 pro-
grammed effects (reverb, delay, chorus, flanger, pan-
ner, and their combinations as well as split effects). It is
especially designed for stage applications and for
home recording. The effect production and effect se-
lection are made digitally. The two last selected effects
remain in the memory even after switching off the
power supply.
The BYPASS function can be remote-controlled via
a foot switch and the effect switching A/B can be
remote-controlled via a momentary action foot pedal.
4 Installation
The multi-effect unit can be placed as a table top unit
or be inserted into a rack (482 mm/19"). For rack
installation 1 rack space (44.5 mm) is required.

5 Making the connections

1) Prior to connection or changing of connections
switch off the effect unit and all other audio units.
2) Via the INPUT jacks (17) and the OUTPUT jacks
(16) insert the MDR-219DSP into the effect way of a
mixer or an instrument amplifier or connect it be-
tween two units (e. g. between mixer and amplifier
or between keyboard and mixer).
3) For the remote control of the BYPASS function
(bridging of the unit), connect a foot switch (e. g.
FS-60A by MONACOR) to jack BYPASS (15) in the
connection panel REMOTE.
4) For the remote control of the EFFECT A/B function
(switching
between
connect a momentary action foot pedal (e. g. FS-60
by MONACOR) to jack A/B (14) in the connection
panel REMOTE.
5) Finally connect the supplied plug-in transformer to
jack SUPPLY 15 V~ (13) and then to a mains socket
(230 V~/50 Hz).
6 Operation
Switch on the MDR-219DSP with the POWER switch
(12) and switch on all other connected units.
If the effect unit is not used for a longer period of
time, disconnect the plug-in transformer from the
mains socket as the transformer has a low current con-
sumption even if the effect unit is switched off.

6.1 Adjusting the level

1) Feed a signal to the effect unit (e. g. test signal or
piece of music).
2) At first turn control OUTPUT MIX (2) into position
DIRECT.
3) Button EFFECT BYPASS (4) must not be pressed
and the yellow LED (5) must not light.
4) Turn up control INPUT GAIN (1) until the red
OVERLOAD LED (6) just shortly lights up with
10
the
memorized
effects),
music peaks. Then slightly turn back the control
until the red LED does not light up any more. The
input level should be between 0.1 V and 4.5 V for an
optimum control.
5) With control OUTPUT LEVEL (3) match the output
level of the effect unit to the input of the following
connected unit (observe the level display at the fol-
lowing unit).
If the level is too high, the following unit is over-
loaded: turn back the control.
If the level is too low, there is a poor signal to noise
ratio: turn up the control further.
6.2 Effect selection
All programmed effects are listed on pages 33 – 39 at
the end of these operating instructions. Each effect
has an assignment number for identification. The de-
sired effect is adjusted with rotary knob SELECT (11)
via this number [indicated in the display (7)].
1) After switching on, the two last selected effects can
be called via the memories A and B. Memory A is
activated. With button EFFECT A/B (10) it is pos-
sible to switch between the memorized effects. Indi-
cation point A (8) lights with activated memory A,
indication point (B) lights with activated memory B.
2) If the effect from memory A is to be changed,
memory B must be activated with button EFFECT
A/B (10). To change memory B, memory A must be
activated.
3) Adjust the effect number with rotary knob SELECT
(11). As soon as the rotary knob is actuated, the
blinking indication point shows the memory in which
the selected effect can be stored.
Only turn the rotary knob:
change the effect number in steps of 10
press + turn:
change the effect number in steps of 1
keep the knob pressed until the indication point
does not blink any more:
the effect number is memorized and the effect
is activated
4) If the effect selection is to be cancelled (e. g. if
rotary knob SELECT has been actuated acciden-
tally), shortly press button EFFECT A/B (10). Indi-
cation point A or B stops blinking, and the effect
number adjusted before is again displayed.
5) Adjust the intensity of the effect with control OUT-
PUT MIX (2):
position DIRECT:
the effect is not audible
position EFFECT:
only the effect signal is audible
Between these two extremes adjust an effect of
natural sound or intended amplification according to
the kind of application.
6) If necessary, correct the input level with control
INPUT GAIN (1) and the output level with control
OUTPUT LEVEL (3) [also see chapter 6.1 "Ad-
justing the level" items 4) and 5)].
