IX. Trouble shooting
Safety instructions: In case of malfunction which cannot be determined precisely, disconnect the machine from the mains at
once, make sure that it cannot be put into operation again and have the trouble shooting and the repair
carried out with the help of a specialist. Have any work on electric parts carried out only by a qualified electrician.
Trouble
Possible reason
No display on the timer
Machine not connected to the mains
The machine has not been used for a long time;
thus the auxiliary battery has discharged
No temperature display
Switch of the machine set to 0 (OFF)
on the digital
The power supply has been interrupted
temperature controllers
Defective temperature controller
Defective visible type fuse
The heating plate does
Defective temperature controller
not heat up (enough)
The overheating cutout has switched
the system off
The alarm sign F1H/F1L or L is displayed
Defective timer
The temperature controller has been set
to an insufficient desired value
Defective heating mat
Damaged connection cable to the heating mat
Switch of the machine set to 0 (OFF)
Curing time has not been set.
The START button beside the timer
has not been pressed
The overheating cutout has been triggered off
The FI fault current breaker has switched
the system off.
Defective connection to the mains
Splits on the
Wear
heating pocket
Damaged heating mat
Wear
The automatic resetting
The pressure adjusting screw has not been set
device does not work./
correctly
Insufficient pressure is
displayed
The hydraulic pump
Dirty oil pressure nozzle in the automatic

resetting device
interruption
The automatic resetting
Leakage of oil
device switches on
again and again
Used oil
Note: In all these cases, after having solved the problem in question, you may have to repeat the curing operation or the repair. For this
purpose, check again whether repairing the tyre is economically reasonable and technically possible.
Alarm function 1:
If the sign F1H blinks on the red LED display, the thermocouple
wire is broken in the heating mat or in the heating mat connection
cable. In this case, the heating mat which is linked to the tempera-
ture controller is cut off automatically for safety reasons.
Important note:
The alarm indicates a defect in the electric system; check the fol-
lowing parts:
a) heating mat cable:
defective or destroyed, because of
- loose or not secured plug connections to the
control box?
- squashing, broken thermocouple wire?
- cable pulled out of the heating mat connector?
b) heating mat
defect due to:
- a broken thermocouple wire, scorched spots?
- wear?
c) electronic temperature controller:
trouble due to
- loose internal cable connections?
- external effects such as impacts etc.?
Solution
Check the connection to the mains
Connect the machine to the mains and
check the timer after approx. one hour
Set the switch of the machine to "I" (ON)
Restore the power supply
Replace the temperature controller
Replace the visible type fuse
Replace the temperature controller
Check the heating mat together with its cable;
replace them, if necessary (see VIII. page 0)
Pull the mains plug,
plug it in again after - 5 seconds.
Replace the timer
Set it to 175 °C / 50 °F
Replace the heating mat (see VIII, page 0)
Replace the heating mat (see VIII, page 0)
Set the switch of the machine to I (ON)
Set curing time
Press the START button.
- Check the heating mat together with
its cable; replace them, if necessary
- Disconnect the vulcanizing machine from the
mains, then put it into operation again
Operate the switch lever on the FI fault current
breaker
Have the connection checked by a
qualified electrician
Replace the heating pocket
Replace the heating mat. Periodically powder it
with talcum
Set to the desired value of 160 bar
Demount the oil pressure nozzle and clean it, or
replace the whole pressure control unit.
Check the whole hydraulic system for leaks.
Add oil.
Replace the hydraulic oil.
Alarm function 2:
If the symbols F1L or L blink on the red LED display, the thermo-
couple in the heating mat or in the temperature controller is not
connected to the right poles.
Important note:
This kind of alarm indicates a defect in the electric system. Dis-
connect the machine from the mains and have the trouble shoot-
ing carried out by a REMA TIP TOP technician.
After the defect has been eliminated, the controller is operational
again. The alarm sign goes out and the actual value is displayed.
If the alarm is triggered off again, disconnect the machine from the
mains and have the trouble shooting carried out by a REMA TIP
TOP technician.
Important note:
The customer is not allowed to change the factory settings as this
may be dangerous and change the functions of the system.
