Operation (continued)
Setting to rest-mode via remote control unit 039 01
- Mains supply failure : pressing the "EXTINCTION" (OFF) button sets the unit to rest-mode. Pressing the
"ALLUMAGE" (ON) button switches the unit back on.
- Mains power restored : the unit switches on in standby mode after 30 seconds.
General installation check
The units can be switched on at any time in order to see that they are in full working order without
interrupting plant activity (installation acceptance tests, inspection visit, etc.).
- Press the "ALLUMAGE" (ON) button on remote control unit 039 01 once. Its
LED illuminates for 6 seconds.
Three seconds later, the units switch to safety mode.
- To stop the check, press the "EXTINCTION" (OFF) button on the 039 01.
Note : This procedure does not affect the LED signalling on the units.
Automatic tests
The unit contains a microprocessor and an internal clock which enable it to carry out its own self-tests :
- Every 7 days : test safety lighting tube for 6 seconds.
- Every 70 days : test safety lighting tube and battery standby power for 1 hour. The date of testing is
generated at random.
- The test time will be the time the unit is first switched on (if the batteries have sufficient power).
No other procedure is necessary.
Test procedure :
The unit chooses a day to perform the tube test. Every week, on the same day and at the same time, the
tube will be tested.
The unit selects a week during the quarter to perform a standby power test.
During the tests, the green LED flashes. It goes back to green once the test is successfullly completed and
the unit is operational once more (charge for 12 hours after the standby power test is complete).
Note : If, in spite of random generation of the test day, two adjacent units are undergoing tests
simultaneously, signalled by their green LEDs flashing, one or other of them should be postponed
(see the section « Choosing the test time. Choosing the time unit by unit »).
Memorisation of results
The test results are memorised until an identical correct test is performed, and until any faulty unit has been
replaced and the repair validated (see maintenance section).
Display of results
• Green, steady : unit operational,
• Green, flashing : tests in progress or batteries charging, subsequent to a test or mains failure,
• Orange, steady : standby power fault or batteries disconnected, replace them,
• Orange, flashing slowly : pilot light fault, replace it (only for ref. 608 65),
• Orange, flashing quickly : safety lighting tube fault, replace it,
• Green/orange, flashing :
- system not ready.
- being programmed.
- no standby power test for 70 days.
Note : Each time the unit is switched on or at the end of a correct test, the LEDs flash green/orange for 30
seconds to confirm that they are in full working order.
A fault on the pilot light can only be indicated when the batteries are not charging.
• Green/orange off :
- unit mains supply switched off.
- unit switched on : manual inspection in progress
: unit not working.
