Operating instructions
1. Introduction
Read through these operating instructions fully and carefully. The operating
instructions belong to this product and contain important points concerning bringing
the appliance into service and its operation.
Always pay attention to all safety instructions. Should you have any questions or be
unsure about operating the appliance - ask a specialist, inform yourself on the internet
under www.pentatech.de. Keep these instructions in a safe place and should the need
arise pass them on to a third party.
2. Proper use
The personal alarm is intended for use in the event of being attacked or in other
emergencies as well as for securing handbags. It must be operated only with 4
batteries LR44 (supplied already installed).
Any other use or change of the appliance is improper use. No liability shall be assumed
for consequential damage as well as damage which is caused by improper use or
incorrect operation.
This appliance is not intended to be used by people (including children) with restricted
physical, sensory or mental capacities, or a lack of experience and/or knowledge,
unless they are supervised by, or receive instructions how to use the appliance from, a
person responsible for their safety. Children must be supervised in order to ensure that
they do not play with the appliance.

6. Safety instructions
Danger! Life and health are endangered if the following instructions are not
observed:
! Attention! Very loud audible alarm! Avoid the alarm sounding close to the ear
otherwise serious damage to hearing may result!
! Do not leave small children unsupervised with the appliance, batteries, packing
material or small parts. Otherwise there is a risk of fatal injury due to choking.

! Make sure that the batteries are not short-circuited, nor thrown into fire. They must
also not be recharged or opened. There is a danger of fatal injury due to explosion.
! Leaking or damaged batteries can cause burning upon contact with the skin.
Where this is the case use suitable protective gloves.
Attention! Non-observance of the following instructions puts property at risk of
damage:
! Only operate the appliance with the approved type of batteries. Check for correct
polarity when you insert the batteries otherwise the personal alarm can be
damaged.
! Avoid the appliance coming into contact with moisture or water otherwise the
personal alarm can be damaged.
! If the equipment will not be used for a long time, remove the batteries.
7. Commissioning
Pay attention to the order, otherwise the alarm will sound.
1. Push the pin [7] into the hole [6].
2. Pull the separation foil [12] out of the personal alarm.
Now the personal alarm is ready for operation.
8. Use
as a means of calling for help and emitting a deterrent noise
! Carry the personal alarm ready to hand if possible.
! In threatening situations carry the hand loop [9] around your wrist.
! Remove the ring [8] from the hand loop [9], if you do not need it.

! Fasten the personal alarm with the keyring [11] to your bag. If necessary you can
also use the snaplink [5].
! Carry the hand loop around your wrist or fasten it (if necessary with the snaplink)
to your clothes.
Important: The personal alarm must be fastened in such a way that it remains attached
to the object after a thief has stolen the object.
9. Alarm release
If the pin is pulled out of the personal alarm, the alarm will sound immediately.
Cause:
- a thief steals the bag fastened to the personal alarm or
- you pulled the pin out of the personal alarm
The alarm sounds until you refit the pin [7] or until the batteries are exhausted.
10. Switching the light on and off
! Press the button [3] to switch on the light. The light will shine for as long as you
keep the button pressed.
11. Changing the batteries
From time to time you should check the charge state of the batteries.
! Pull out the pin [7].
! Listen to the alarm sound.
! Push the pin [7] in again.
If the alarm sounds weak you should replace the batteries as follows:
! Open the personal alarm by removing the housing screws [13] from the housing
back (using a screwdriver).
! Remove the back housing.
! Take out the batteries [14].
! Insert four new batteries. Observe the correct polarity.
! Screw the back housing back on to the personal alarm.
! Test the function of the personal alarm.
12. Maintenance + cleaning
! Check the proper condition and function regularly.
! Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the surfaces of the appliance.

14. Disposal
Do not dispose of packaging material, used batteries or products as
household waste. Please use your recycling system. Details are available
from your local authority.
