INTENDED USE
This battery disconnector adapter allows to disconnect the vehicle electronics from the 12 V starter /
supply batteries.
SAFETY INFORMATION
• Never disconnect the battery from the vehicle electronics when the ignition is switched on. Turn the
ignition off and then remove the key from the ignition lock.
• Do not mount the disconnect adapter if you do not have any knowledge in motor vehicle electronics.
• Exercise caution when handling electrically conductive tools. Incorrect use of tools in the vicinity of
and on starter batteries may lead to short circuit and injuries.
• Use the disconnect adapter only for the use specified under the INTENDED USE.
• When mounting, ensure that the disconnect adaptor has sufficient space to, e.g. the bonnet.
INSTALLATION
When installing, it must be observed for which or in which vehicle the disconnect adaptor should be
installed. The disconnect adaptor is to be used for the two following variants:
1. To protect against battery discharge and theft
For this, the disconnect adaptor is inserted between the negative
battery terminal (1) and battery connection cable (2).
A tool with 12 mm width across flats for the disconnect adaptor and
usually 10 or 13 mm for the connecting cable is required for the
installation.
With this variant, the following two points must be observed:
1. For vehicles with electronic petrol injection, after disconnecting,
an irregular engine run may occur in the fist kilometres.
2. For radios with anti-theft code, the code must be re-entered after
each disconnection.
2. As "Anti-theft protection" for passenger cars
In addition to the work carried out above, here a "flying" fuse (3) with a
strength of 15 A must be installed parallel to the disconnect adaptor.
After "disconnection", a "flying" fuse has the following effect:
1. The radio code does not have to be entered.
2. The injection module does not loose any "taught" values.
3. An unauthorised start attempt fails
as the fuse "blows" due to th high starter current.
DISCONNECTING / CONNECTING
Turn the plastic handwheel by one rotation counter-clockwise if you want to disconnect the battery from
the electrics or hand-tight clockwise to connect the battery.
