Diagrama 7
To Close Your Gate: Align the handle with the frame and lower the lever until it clicks into place. The
gate stop at the bottom of your gate may be set to restrict the opening of the gate to one direction
only. It also acts as a further locking device which should be used, especially on stairs.
Gate Stop
Position one side of lock so gate does not open over stairs.
When passing through a gate at the top of a staircase, particular attention should be paid to the
bottom bar of the U shaped frame to avoid tripping.

Where to Place Your Gate
Your safety gate is approved for use at the top or bottom of stairs, and in doorways, hallways, and entryways.
For maximum safety, use the 4 Wall Cups provided when installing your gate. If mounting your gate at the
top of stairs, you must use the Wall Cups, Sticky Pads and the 4 Adjusters.
How to Mount Your Gate
1. Measure the size of the opening where you intend to mount your safety gate (Diagram 1).
Your gate is ideal for restricting access to any room in your home from kitchens to bedrooms and
may be used to span hallways, doorways or appropriate stairways. Check the width of the opening in
which you intend to fit your Munchkin Gate. The smallest opening is 29.5" and the largest opening
is 51.5". If opening exceeds 32", you must use extensions provided to fit the openings up to 51.5".
IMPORTANT: Do not use in openings greater than 32" without using extensions. Due to the nature of
the pressure fit fixing method this gate must be used in a strong and secure opening. Ensure all surfaces
are clean and free of loose materials.
ATTENTION: The bottom wall cups prevent your gate to mount properly with openings of 29.5". Do not
use this gate at top or bottom of stairs without using all four wall cups. The gate can be used without
bottom wall cups in other locations.
For safety reasons do not mount your gate higher than 1" from floor. It is best to mount the gate flush to floor.
51.5" (with extension)
2. If additional extensions are needed please go to back page of the installation guide for website or Consumer Relations
Department information. If extensions are used move to Step 3. If not using extensions skip to Step 4.
3. To add extensions: (Diagram 2)
A. Remove all Screw Adjusters from your gate.
B. Remove the plastic plugs from the top and bottom of one side of your gate and set aside in a near by location. You may
need to use a Flathead Screwdriver to remove the plugs.
C. Connect the Top and Bottom Extension Adapters to the Metal Tube or Extension then insert into gate ends. Tap with
rubber mallet if needed.
D. Replace the plastic plugs into the end of the extensions. For 5.5" and 11" extensions, plastic plugs only need to be
inserted to lower end.
E. Make sure that there are no gaps between gate and Extension Adapters. If an additional extension(s) is required, repeat
this procedure on the other side of your gate.
F. For maximum safety - 4 screw-in Wall Cups are required for use with extensions (wall cups included with gate at time
of purchase). Use the minimum amount of extensions possible.
G. If two extensions are fitted on the same side use the smallest extension closest to the gate handle.

4. If you are installing your gate at the bottom of the stairs, it is best for it to be placed in the bottom landing. If the gate
must be placed on the lowest stair, place towards the front of the step, away from the second step (Diagram 3). If you are
installing your gate at top of the stairs, it is required to place your gate on the top landing only (Diagram 4).
