1 Introduction
This guide explains how to quickly start up the HyperSound system for a first use. The complete HyperSound user
guide is available on www.id-al.com.
2 Placement of HyperSound
HyperSound has unique directional properties. Its acoustic beam is extremely focused. As it generates some
acoustic reflections that need to be reduced, the emitter shall point towards sound-muffling materials like carpet
fabric or a distant obstacle (wall or ceiling). If needed, background music can be added. Alternatively, the message
can be delivered only when visitor enters the audio zone.
In a noisy environment (train station, retail, ...), HyperSound will generate a clear message in a precise zone.
For a better experience, distance between speakers and visitor's ears shall be at least 1.5 meter.
3 Speaker Cable
Section of cables are qualified for a distance up to 15m. To avoid electric coupling noise, do not install these cables
close to other AC cables or high frequency cables.
4 Getting started
1. Unplug the amplifier while configuring all connections.
2. Connect audio line and then connect emitters to the amplifier.
3. Optionally connect a woofer.
4. Power on the amplifier.
5. Check LED green flashing.
6. Wait 1 minute for the amplifier volume to stabilize.
7. System is ready.
5 Mastering audio files
HyperSound has a limited frequency bandwidth. The audio files need to be mastered in order to reduce the
dynamic range. This implies plenty of compression and bringing the voice over very upfront in the mastering mix.
EQ is a matter of boosting the voice band (1 to 2 kHz) and rolling off gently lower frequencies below 500 Hz (not
much going on this band anyway and reducing these will eliminate any potential distortion).
Overall, a nicely mastered file with a professional voice-over recording, upfront in the mix and close mic always
works well.
Reducing 6 and 8 kHz by 3 to 6 dB will help remove the "brightness" from the content.
For a deployment with a woofer, a cut-off frequency at 500 to 600 Hz with a slope of 6 dB per octave is
recommended.
