Item no. 70 47 88
Intended Use
The electronic speed controller is suitable for variable speed controller of sensorless, brushless motors (not
supplied with the speed controller) and is connected to the receiver output in model vehicles for the driving
function.

Safety instructions
Damage caused by failure to observe these instructions will invalidate the guarantee /
warranty! We are also not responsible for any consequential damage!
We do not assume any liability for damage to property or personal injury caused by im-
proper use or disregard of safety instructions. In such cases, the guarantee / warranty will
become invalid!
• For reasons of safety and certification (CE), unauthorised reassembly and / or modification of the product
is not permitted. Do not disassemble the product as it does not include any components to be adjusted or
serviced by you. It will also void the warranty / guarantee!
• The product is not a toy and should be kept out of the reach of children.
• Always turn on the transmitter and move its control lever to the neutral position for the drive/brake function.
Only then can the speed controller be connected to a battery pack and switched on. When you turn off,
proceed in the reverse order. Before the transmitter is turned off, the speed controller must be switched off
and disconnected from the battery at first.
• Always disconnect the battery from the speed controller when it is not needed. During brief pauses, the
speed controller can be turned off using the power switch.
• The speed controller can be operated with NiMH / NiCd or LiPo batteries. For the technical data, please
refer to the table in the „Technical data" chapter.
• Depending on the application (on or off-road) and the road surface (tar, sand, grass), different current
values result for the operation. Adhere strictly to the technical data in these operating instructions. Failure
to comply with the limits may cause damage to the motor and/or the speed controller. Loss of warranty /
guarantee.
• Both the speed controller and the motor connected to it as well as the battery become very hot during
operation - risk of burns!
• Operate the speed controller only using a battery pack, never through a power supply.
• Connect only a single brushless motor to the speed controller.
• The brushless speed controller is not suitable for operation of conventional electric motors with two con-
nections! The speed controller is only suitable for operation of a sensorless brushless motor.
• During installation, maintain the greatest distance possible between the speed controller and the receiver
or the motor to avoid mutual interference.
• Do not lay the antenna cable of the receiver in parallel with the conducting wire.
• When operating the model ensure sufficient cooling of the speed controller and the motor. Never cover the
fan of the speed controller!
• Check the function of the fan upon every start-up, do not block the fan, remove dust and dirt from the fan
which has collected, e.g. during the operation of the vehicle.
• Avoid blocking the drive. Any resulting currents could damage the motor and/or the speed controller.
• Ensure smooth, regularly maintained powertrain.
• Check the vehicle, the speed controller and the motor regularly for damage. If you detect any damage, do
not operate the vehicle or the speed controller.
• Before charging the battery, it should be unplugged from the speed controller.
• Handle the product carefully, it may be damaged through impact, shock or a fall from a low height.
• Do not leave packaging material lying around, this could be a dangerous toy for children. Make sure
that no body parts or objects are within the danger area of rotating parts when handling vehicles. Risk of
injury!

Version 11/13
1 Speed controller
2 Brushless motor
3 LED indicator
4 On / off switch
5 Programming button (setup button)
6 Servo plug for connecting to the receiver
7 T-plug for connecting the drive battery
8 Fan including cover *
9 Port for fan or programming card **
* Please note that the included fan has an operating voltage of 5 V, and may be operated only in connection
with a 2-cell LiPo battery or a 4-6-cell NiCd or NiMH drive battery.
If a 3-cell LiPo battery or a 7- 9-cell NiMH or NiCd Battery pack is used, the existing 5 V fan must be repla-
ced by an equivalent one with 12 V operating voltage. Alternatively, the existing fan can be disconnected
from the speed controller and powered directly from the receiver.
** Besides the option of programming using the remote control it is also possible to program the speed con-
troller with an optional programming card (not supplied with the speed controller). The programming card
is connected instead of the fan.
Mounting and Connecting the Speed controller
• Mount the speed controller (1) in the vehicle and use, e.g. a double-sided adhesive tape or a piece of
Velcro tape for this. Ideally, the speed controller should be installed in the vehicle as far as possible from
the receiver and motor (2). Also make sure that the LEDs (3) on the speed controller (between the motor
power cables B and C) are still visible in the installed state.
• Connect the three motor power cables (A, B and C) of the speed controller with those of the motor.
Later, when the direction of rotation of the motor is wrong (depending on the transmission of the vehicle),
you simply swap two of the three terminals. The motor then rotates in the opposite direction.
• Check whether the four fan mounting screws are tight Check this regularly after operation of the vehicle.
• The on/off switch (4) with integrated programming button (5) is to be mounted such that it can be easily
operated. Again, the attachment is to be made using a piece of double-sided tape or Velcro.
• Lay all cables such that they cannot reach into rotating or moving parts of the vehicle. Use e.g. cable ties
for fixing.
• Connect the three-pin plug of the speed controller (6) with the receiver output, which provides the control
signals for the drive/ brake function. While doing this make sure the correct assignment of the plug con-
tacts on the receiver (see operating instructions for the receiver or the label on the receiver).
Yellow/ white/ orange cable:
Red cable:
Brown/ black cable:
• Since the speed controller includes BEC electronics, no normal or rechargeable receiver battery should
be used! The receiver and the connected servos are powered directly from the drive battery of the speed
controller.
Should a separate receiver power supply be used instead
of the built-in BEC, the middle red wire of the three-pin
receiver plug (6) of the speed controllerler must be inter-
rupted.
Noncompliance with this may cause damage to the speed
controller! Loss of warranty / guarantee!
To interrupt the red cable, the locking tab is slightly raised
at the plug using a needle (10) and then the plug contact
is pulled out backward (diagram A). The cable with the
exposed contact is folded back towards the cable and
insulated with adhesive tape and fixed (diagram B).
