4. Cleaning and Maintenance
4.1
Cleaning
Wearing suitable protective clothing, clean all surfaces with a disposable cloth soaked in a
neutral detergent and water.
Start by cleaning the upper sections of the product and work along all horizontal surfaces.
Work methodically towards the lower sections and clean the castors last. Take extra care to
clean areas that may trap dust or dirt. Drawers can be removed for cleaning.
Rinse with clean water and dry with disposable paper towels.
4.2
Disinfecting
After cleaning as described above, wipe all surfaces with sodium dichloroisocyanurate
(NaDCC) at a concentration of 1,000 parts per million (0.1%) of available chlorine.
In the case of pooling body fluids, e.g. blood, the concentration of NaDCC should be increased
to 10,000 parts per million (1%) of available chlorine.
Do not use abrasive compounds or pads.
Do not use phenol-based disinfectants.
4.3
Preventive Maintenance
Before starting any service or maintenance procedures, ensure that the
equipment has been adequately decontaminated
Avoid skin contact with lubricants. Rubber gloves and protective clothing
should be worn when carrying out maintenance work
Use only replacement spare parts that are approved by ArjoHuntleigh
Dispose of waste components and materials safely in accordance with
applicable national and local regulations
The following preventive maintenance procedures should be carried out at intervals of 12
months. All service or repair activities must be carried out by properly qualified and trained
persons approved by ArjoHuntleigh.
Check that all four castors swivel and rotate freely. Remove any debris that may have been
picked up by the wheels.
Check the braking castors for correct operation.
Check that both drawers operate smoothly and easily.
Check that the top drawer locks and unlocks smoothly and easily.
