Troubleshooting
Problem
DC Fuse (3) has blown
Discharged battery not charging
Discharged battery charging at
a slow rate
While charging a battery the
battery charger has stopped
operating and the battery
charger casing is warm
Battery water level has reduced
and there is bubbling and
gassing of the water

Cause
Battery clamps (10 & 11) have touched
Battery clamps are reversed
Battery internal fault
Poor connection
Battery sulphated
DC Fuse has blown
24V battery but set to 12V output
Battery at low temperature
Thermal overload protection has operated
Battery is being excessively over-charged
Charger left in boost mode
12V battery is being charged at 24V
Solution
Replace DC Fuse and ensure clamps are kept apart
Replace DC Fuse and ensure clamps are fitted to the
correct terminals of the battery
Replace fuse and battery
Check clamps are firmly connected to battery terminals.
Clean terminals if necessary
Consult vehicle battery specialist to de-sulphate battery
or replace battery
Replace DC Fuse
Use correct voltage setting
Charge rate will increase as battery warms
Switch the charger off and allow to cool. It may take up to 20 minutes
before the charger will function again
Disconnect battery charger from the mains supply immediately and
ensure area is fully ventilated. Do not smoke or allow open flames near
battery. Top up battery with distilled water (follow battery manufacturer
instructions) and carefully check if battery is still in serviceable
condition. For maintenance-free batteries replace immediately.
