Installation and Commissioning

Commissioning
Nitrogen Pre-charging
Normally, diaphragm accumulators are delivered with pre-charge
gas pressure. Gas pre-charging can be checked and adjusted
before or after the installation of the diaphragm accumulator in
the hydraulic circuit.
– Attach the accumulator to its mounting.
– Mark out a safe working area and adopt a position which is
not in line with the accumulator ports or openings.
– Charge the accumulator to the specified pressure using a
Parker UCA charging and gauging assembly (refer to Bulletin
HY07-1244-T regarding the safe use of this assembly).
– Do not exceed the maximum pressure specified by the
manufacturer: comply with the information on the shell and
label.
– Avoid charging and discharging repeatedly to minimise the
risk of damage to the diaphragm.
– Check for leaks from the gas port, eg: by using soapy water.
Explosive – use only oxygen-free, dry nitrogen gas
with a minimum purity of 99.95%.
The use of an air compressor is strictly prohibited.
Hydraulic Pressurizing
– Check that the gas pre-charge pressure is correct for the
application.
– Ensure that the hydraulic pressure never exceeds the
maximum permissible pressure as indicated on the
accumulator shell. Using a Parker accumulator safety block
with suitably rated pressure relief valve will eliminate this
possibility.
Specification
These accumulators are classified according to PED 97/23/EU article 3 paragraph 3 or
categories I and II for use with Group 2 Fluids. Their use is strictly prohibited with a Group 1 Fluid
Nominal volume (litres)
Mass (kilograms)
Maximum working pressure PS (bar)
Test pressure PT (bar)
Maximum operating temperature TS (°C)
Storage temperature range (°C)
Versions for operating temperatures down to -30°C employ an epichlorohydrine ECO diaphragm and seals – please consult factory.

Maintenance
– Check the gas pre-charge pressure regularly during the
first few weeks of operation, and then at suitable intervals
afterwards based on this initial experience.
– Carry out a visual examination of the accumulator periodically
in order to detect any early signs of deterioration such as
corrosion, deformation etc.
– Comply with the regulatory provisions concerning the
monitoring of operational equipment.
– Before removal, it is vital to ensure that there is no residual
hydraulic pressure.
For cleaning information, please contact your local Parker
Service Department.
Destruction and Recycling of the Accumulator
Before destroying or recycling, all pressure should be discharged
using a Parker UCA charging and gauging assembly and the gas
port plug removed. Decontaminate if necessary.
