Set-up & Use:
Installing the Battery

Step 1: Remove the unit cover. Place your thumb and forefinger in the indentations at the wide end of the cover
(Figure A). Pull the cover up and then slide it out away from the narrow end (Figure B).
Step 2: Install one 9 volt battery in the rectangular battery compartment (Figure C). Be sure to match the + and -
symbols on the battery with those on the compartment. Slide base in first and then snap in the contact end
(Figure D).
Note: To change the battery, lift up on the contact end and pull the battery out. The unit cover may be used to
pry the battery up (Figure E).
Step 3: Replace the unit cover. Hold the unit cover at the wide end. Insert the narrow end first, and then snap the
wide end closed, as shown in Figure F.
Step 4: Get into a reclining position. You can hear your baby best while lying or reclining in bed, on a sofa, or in a
recliner with your upper body elevated by pillows. For comfort, elevate your right hip and/or knees with a small
pillow.

Note: The best time to listen is 3-4 hours after eating and when you are relaxed.
WARNING: Avoid lying flat on your back for an extended period of time during pregnancy, especially in your last
trimester. Check with your health care professional for recommendations on this matter.
Step 5: Turn power on using the volume switch on the side of the product, as shown in Figure G. The indicator
light will illuminate when the power is on. If the light does not illuminate, the battery power is very low and the
battery must be replaced. Install a new battery and try again.
Step 6: Plug the earbuds into the jacks on the side of the unit to listen, as shown in Figure H.
Step 7: Position the sensor. Locate the sensor on the underside of the unit, as shown in Figure I. This area is the
most sensitive area on the unit. Please use the sensor as your target to locate your baby's heartbeat and
movements. You may need to try the sensor in several locations before you locate the rapid drumming of your
baby's heart and movements.
Note: When you move or touch the sensor with your hand, you'll notice an immediate drop in volume. That's
because the Prenatal Listening System sensor is designed to automatically soften the louder sounds that result
when you touch or move it. The volume will return to normal when you remove your hand.
• Be sure that the sensor is touching your bare skin.
• During the early stages of your pregnancy, your baby may be low in your abdomen. As your baby grows, it takes
up more space and you may hear the heartbeat higher in your abdomen.
