Tab. 2: Airstream and rotation directions in standard model
Airstream direction A: with air drawn across
the motor (Fig. 1)
Airstream direction B: with air blown across
the motor (Fig. 1)
Rotation direction of the motor: in the direction
of the impeller
The airstream direction can be reversed. This
results in the following differences from Fig. 2:
power line L2 to terminal 1 and L1 to terminal 2
(exchange of the external conductors). Note that, as
a result,
– the airstream performance is reduced,
– protection against foreign bodies being drawn in
may not be ensured,
– the potentially explosive atmosphere may no
longer be suctioned off, and
– the fan has not been thermally designed for
continuous operation (operating mode S1), i.e.
not for frequent changes in the rotation direction.
If the rotation direction is changed frequently, the
fan motor may become too hot.
Fans with a reverse airstream direction and
undiminished airstream performance are available
as special models.
During commissioning, ensure that
– the air can flow freely
– there are no dirt particles in the connection space
(terminal box).
Maintenance and troubleshooting
Before starting maintenance work, the fan must be
completely separated from mains to prevent danger
caused by live and rotating parts.
Secure the fan against accidental restarting. This is
the case especially if the switch for the fan is
attached at a distance from the fan, e.g. in the case
of roof fan DZD.
Cleaning
The device must be checked regularly for soiling
and cleaned, if necessary, especially after a long
standstill. The terminal box may be cleaned using
only a damp cloth.

– Subject to change ! –
The fan and its components must be checked
regularly. Here, pay special attention to
– free flow in the air channel
– the effectiveness of the protective screens
– maintenance of the permitted temperatures
– the quietness of running of the ball bearings
– secure attachment of the cables in the terminal
box
– possible damage to the terminal box, cable
glands, stopping plugs and cables
– secure layout of the cables
Operation with malfunctions
If malfunctions occur, completely disconnect the fan
from mains. Before switching it on again, have
professionals determine and eliminate the cause of
the error. This is especially the case when the fan
is switched off after the PTC thermistor activation
system has been triggered.
Repairs
The fan may be repaired only by professionals
trained in explosion protection. Send the fan back
to the factory for all repairs.
Disposal
The fan contains some recyclable materials and some
substances that should not be disposed of in the
rubbish. After its lifetime has elapsed, dispose the
device according to the valid regulations.
