Intended use
The device is intended for comparative measurement of the moisture level in wood materials. This enables
the moisture level to be checked over a certain period so as to make comparisons. The measurement is
carried out with two insertion probes; which are inserted into the material to be measured. The insertion
probes can be replaced in the event of high wear. The device displays the moisture level of wood materials.
It includes a temperature compensation function to take into account the material temperature when
measuring the moisture in the wood. Maximum and minimum values can also be displayed, and the device
has an activatable/deactivatable automatic shut-off function, a white backlight on the LC display as well as a
hold function, in order to freeze a measured value on the display. It also features a low battery indicator and
is operated by 3x 1.5 V batteries. For protection during transport, a protection cap is enclosed.
For safety and approval purposes, you must not rebuild and/or modify this product. Using the product for
purposes other than those described above may damage the product. In addition, improper use can cause
hazards such as a short circuit or fire. Read the instructions carefully and store them in a safe place. Only
make this product available to third parties together with its operating instructions.

a) General information
• The device is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
• Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. It may become a dangerous toy
for children.
• Protect the product from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, strong jolts, high humidity,
moisture, flammable gases, vapours and solvents.
• Do not place the product under any mechanical stress.
• If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, take it out of operation and protect it
from any accidental use. Safe operation can no longer be guaranteed if the product:
- is visibly damaged,
- is no longer working properly,
- has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or
- has been subjected to any serious transport-related stresses.
• Please handle the product carefully. Jolts, impacts or a fall even from a low height may
damage the product.
• Consult a technician if you are not sure how to use or connect the product, or if you have
concerns about safety.
• Maintenance, modifications and repairs must be carried out by a technician or a specialist
repair centre.
• If you have questions which remain unanswered by these operating instructions, contact our
technical support service or other technical personnel.
b) Persons and product
• Condensation may form inside the device if it is brought from a cold environment into a warm
environment. This can result in incorrect measurements. Leave the device for a while to adjust
to the new ambient conditions before commencing operation.
• The user is responsible for the measured results from this device. We neither guarantee nor
assume responsibility for the correctness of the measured results. Under no circumstances
shall we assume responsibility for any damage caused by application of the measured results.
• Keep the device away from the strong magnetic fields.
• The insertion probes are pointed. Do not insert them into the eyes of people or animals or use
them to inflict injury in any other way.
c) Batteries
• Check that the batteries are inserted with the correct polarity.
• To prevent battery leakage, remove the batteries if you do not plan to use the product for
an extended period. Leaking or damaged batteries may cause acid burns if they come
into contact with your skin. Always use suitable protective gloves when handling damaged
batteries.
• Batteries must be kept out of the reach of children. Do not leave batteries lying around, as
there is a risk that children or pets may swallow them.
• All batteries must be replaced at the same time. Mixing old and new rechargeable batteries
can cause the batteries to leak and damage the product.
• Batteries must not be dismantled, short-circuited or thrown into flames. Never recharge non-
rechargeable batteries. Danger of explosion!

Operation
a) Inserting and replacing the batteries
The material moisture meter MF-10 is operated with 3x AAA batteries. The package includes batteries that
must be inserted into the material moisture meter MF-10. To insert the batteries, proceed as follows:
• Remove the battery compartment cover from the rear of the measuring
device. To do this, press the locking lever back with the finger and fold
back the battery compartment cover.
• Ensure that the device is switched off.
• If necessary, remove any empty batteries from the battery
compartment (10). On the first occasion, this step is not necessary.
• Insert 3x AAA batteries into the battery compartment, paying attention to
the correct polarity (10).
• Replace the battery compartment cover.
• Replace the batteries if the low battery indicator (15) lights up on the LC display (5).
• Proceed as described above. Remove the empty batteries from the battery compartment before inserting
new batteries.
b) Switching on/off and selecting the wood type
• To switch on, press and hold the on/off button

(9) if the measuring device is switched on.
• Press the selection button for the wood type
measured. Each press of the button moves one step forward in the cycle (1 - 4). The code number is
display on the LC display (5) together with the wood symbol (16). Go to the Section "f) Wood and wood
types" to determine the code number of the wood to be measured and to set it on the device.
c) Taking measurements
• Remove the protective cover (1) and the protection cap for the insertion
probes (2) from the measuring device.
• Insert the protection cap for the insertion probes (2) into the protective
cover (1), so that it cannot be lost easily and is always to hand.
