4. Operation
1. Fill the tank with max. 4.5 litres of premium paraffin. Leave 10 mm head space in the tank.
2. The wick takes about 1 hour to saturate with paraffin. Never light the wick when it is dry.
3. Position the heating apparatus where it cannot be knocked over. Keep a minimum distance of 30
cm to flammable objects.
4. Secure the heating apparatus on the floor by positioning the enclosed fasteners at equal distances
around the tank and screw to the floor.
5. Light the wick when it is screwed down to bottom position.
6. Mount the chimney and heat cover as shown on Page 3 and fasten to the tank.
7. Check the height of the flame after about 5 minutes and again after 15 minutes. If it should smoke,
use the adjusting wheel to adjust the height of the flame.
8. The flame must not be higher than the centre bridge of the fuel element. A higher flame dries out
the wick and creates smoke.
9. To extinguish the flame, turn the wick down fully and blow out the flame. Alternatively, use the
extinguishing lever.
10. Remove excess soot from the wick with a soft brush or cloth.
11. Provide adequate ventilation whilst it is burning. Otherwise, the flame may not get enough oxygen
and suffocate.
12. Extinguish the flame before topping up with paraffin. Fire hazard!
13. Store the paraffin in a clean and dry container.
14. When using new wicks or re-using wicks that have not been in use for a longer period, remove the
wick from the fuel element and allow to dry for 1 hour. When it is dry, reinsert the wick and
proceed as described in Point 2.
