12) The table below gives approximate maximum charging times from a totally discharged flat battery to fully
charged stat u s . However it is only in cases such as car headlights being left on for a week or the battery being
unused and kept in a warm environment for months that the battery will become totally discharged. The
«Normal Hours from Flat» indicates the average charging time to attain a fully charged battery from a status
whereby the battery is unable to turn the engine.

To use the 12 Volt DC power supply function
1) First ensure that the rated Direct Current input of the appliance to be powered or load to be supported does
not exceed 0,6 Amps and that there is good ventilation around the device. Place the slide switch on the
device towards the right, blue side, to select the 12Vdc power supply function.
2) If the application is to power an appliance or to recharge a NiCd,NiMH or Li-lon battery pack in a portable
appliance for which a 12Vdc input of not exceeding 0,6A is required, refer to the NOTE in the preliminary text
above and connect the connection set intended for use with the power supply to the 2-pole connector
t e r m i n ating the output cable. Then insert the ap p r o p r i ate concentric plug into the input socket of the
appliance to be powered. Insulate the unusued heads of the 4-headed plug.
3) If the ap p l i c ation is to support the wiring system and on-board computer of a vehicle during a bat t e ry
change, use the battery clips in the manner described for the charging function, securing these to the wiring
s y s t e m 's bat t e ry cl a m p s , if necessary using auxiliary means to ensure a 100% secure attachment during
disconnection and removal of the battery and until reinstallation of a battery and re-securing of the vehicle's
wiring system's bat t e ry cl a m p s . Note that the current drawn by the vehicl e 's lighting (including interior
lighting) and/or audio, if activated, will exceed the maximum available 0,6A current and rapidly cause the
automatic annulment of the power supply which is protected against such overload.
4) Fully insert the device's metal contact pins into a 220-240V AC mains supply socket and if this has a switch,
switch it on. If obstructions close to the wall socket prevent full insertion of the device, the casing of the
device (except the UK model) can be rotated through 90° relative to the contact pins so as to overcome such
diffculties. To achieve this, remove the device from the wall socket.Locate the rotation locking pin close to the
d e v i c e 's AC contact pins. Use a flat tool to lift the locking pin just clear of the locking hole. This allow s
rotation through 90° to the alternative locking position. (NOTE : do not lift the locking-pin by more than is
necessary as this can result in its premature failure).
5) Refer to the LED panel explanation above. The 12V
If not, check all connections.
6) To discontinue, switch off and/or withdraw the device from the wall socket then break the output
connections.
