Sigma switch is a module for monitoring and switching of time outputs.
When associated to two Sigma master clocks, this switching module permits
to make a time centre with two redundant time bases.
In case of failure, all outputs are switched from main to secondary master clock.
1 - ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION
Connect the mains 230VAC or extra low voltage 24 VDC (Fig.1).
When the installation (24 VDC) includes several Sigma UPS the earth poles
of the sigma UPS batteries should be interconnected.
The mains supply for this device must include a neutral phase circuit
breaker of maximum 16A C curve (6A maximum for 24VDC version), rapidly
accessible upstream from the supply.
All cables must be attached to the frame of the cabinet before being
connected to the various terminals strips, to prevent any pulling on these
terminal strips. In addition, the wires of each terminal strips must be attached
to each other to maintain the various isolations if an initial fault occurs.
Connect the alarm output (terminals 5 and 6) of the main Sigma (A) on the
external input (terminal 20 and 21) of the secondary Sigma (B) and on the alarm
input (terminal in) of the Sigma switch (Fig. 1). This output will control switching
to secondary master clock. Circuit 3 of the main Sigma must be assigned to
alarm (see §9.4 of the SIGMA instruction manual).
Equipotentiality of the ground between Sigma master clock and Sigma
switch (of «-» for 24 VDC version).
Connect the time outputs of the main master clock to Input time base A and
the ones of the secondary master clock to Input time base B. Connect the
slave clocks to Output.
When more than 8 outputs must be switched (for example the 12 outputs
of 4 AFNOR option cards) then 2 Sigma Switch modules are required.
Caution : respect the order when cabling input and output terminals (input
terminals 1A and 1B for output terminal 1A-B).
Only time outputs must be connected to the switch. This product is not
supposed to switch power except for TBT 24VDC.
2 - OPERATION
A toggle switch permits to select the mode of operation:
- Automatic (in case of failure of main master clock (A), secondary
master clock (B) will take control of the time outputs).
- Manual switch to main master clock (A).
- Manual switch to secondary master clock (B).
1 power LED indicator.
1 Alarm LED indicator and dry contact.

Check the product for shipping damage on reception for any reservations to the carrier
Safety rules:
Installation and maintenance of this equipment should only
be carried out by qualified personnel.
If the Sigma Switch is connected to the 110-230 VAC
mains power supply, its installation must comply with the
European standard IEC 364 (NFC 15.100 for France).
The mains supply for this device must include a neutral
phase circuit breaker of 16 A, rapidly accessible upstream
from the supply. The circuit breaker must be switched off
during maintenance operation.
This device must be fixed before being switched on.
This device must be mounted in a 19" cabinet to provide
mechanical, electrical, fire, water and dust protection
(pollution level II maximum),
All cables must be attached to the frame of the cabinet
before being connected to the various terminals strips, to
prevent any pulling on these terminal strips. In addition, the
wires of each terminal strips must be attached to each other
to maintain the various isolations if an initial fault occurs.
