The characteristics of valve amplifiers have been
known for a long time. Their sound has its suppor-
ters in many hifi devices so they still very much
have a part to play these days although transistors
are much more robust and durable as amplifier
components. Even in audio source devices there
are amplifier circuits and with these too, the sound
can be greatly improved by sophisticated ampli-
fier circuitry. Today this approach is taken by only
a few selected manufacturers. The CD-S1.2 is
intended to fill precisely this gap. It uses a hybrid

amplifier with transistors and valves. A USB input,
a coaxial digital audio output and an adjustable
headphones output connection are additional fea-
tures of the equipment. One special feature of this
player is the symmetrical analogue output (XLR).
The appearance of this device matches the other
audio components from Vincent's solidLine.
Together with the tuner and the amplifier compo-
nents in this range a system can be assembled
whose sound and manufacturing quality are not
common today.
