IMPORTANT!
If the chain is new, it requires a break-in period during which its tension must be checked more often.
6.1.2 Check and replacement of the chain and/or cutting bar
NOTE!
Replace the chain when after sharpening it many times, the length of the tooth reaches 3-4 millimetres or when the
links of the chain are worn.
NOTE!
Replace the bar when:
-
the depth of the groove is smaller than the height of the drive links (which must never touch the bottom);
-
the internal wall of the groove is worn to a point that the chain tilts sideways;
-
there are clear signs of wear, deformities or damage.
To prevent an asymmetrical wear of the bar, it must be periodically inverted with respect to the chain.
CAUTION!
The teeth of the chain are sharp, put on protective gloves before starting.
Perform the following operations to change the bar and/or chain:
1. Disconnect the tool from the compressed air supply pipe.
2. Remove the front casing (6) by unscrewing the screws (7).
3. Unscrew the nuts (5) and remove the washer (4).
4. Loosen the chain bar (1), unscrewing the screw (9) anti-clockwise until the bar and chain can be removed.
5. Mount the chain on the bar, inserting the feather keys of the chain transmission links (2) in the groove of the bar
and on the spool. Be mindful of the rotation direction and the correct assembly and positioning of the cutting teeth.
6. Place the bar and chain on the tool making sure that:
the guide links of the chain are inserted on the teeth of the pinion,
the chain tensioning pin is inserted in the slot on the bar.
7. Insert the washer and screw the nuts () without tightening.
8. Tighten the chain bar (1) screwing the adjusting screw (9) clockwise. The chain has to be adjusted so that it is taut
and able to slide by hand.
9. When the correct tension is achieved, lock the nuts (5) and reassemble the front casing.
