4. Application areas and mode of operation
The MTS 4000 UV 9 is a compact, installation and maintenance-friendly filter designed for cleaning ponds
and aquariums. Its compact dimensions make installation in the garden and maintenance work easier. This
ensures that the water in the pond stays clear and clean.
The device has been developed for private use and not for industrial or commercial purposes.
This filter system is used to support the biological self-cleaning of your garden pond. A satisfactory effect and
function of this filter system is influenced by various operating conditions. Factors, such as many fish, few
plants, a lot of direct sunlight and a high level of contamination can negatively influence the mode of
operation and may significantly reduce the maximum pond water volume that can be effectively cleaned.

5. Placing in service

Do not use excessive force that can cause damage when tightening threaded unions.
See the illustration/drawing at the end of these use instructions. The numbers and other information cited
below in parentheses are based on this illustration.
5.1.
Assembly
The filter is supplied with all necessary accessories for commissioning.
Place the container in the most suitable position an ensure that the outflow opening faces the pond itself.
Warning: The filter must always be positioned such that it protrudes above the water level of the pond.
Warning: The filter must always be positioned on a horizontal surface to prevent the water from overflowing.
First place the 15 Bioballs (1) in the designated place in the container (2).
Place the two filter sponges (3) in the area in front of the Bioballs in the space provided
Use the supplied hose (4) and associated hose nozzles (5) to connect the pump with integrated UV clarifier
(6) to the filter container (2).
Make sure that the seal is fitted to the nipple (7) to ensure that the hose connection to the container is
absolutely watertight. Now place the pump in the water. Make sure that the pump is positioned correctly and
that the filter cap (8) is removed from the bottom.
Connect the plugs to power the pump with UV clarifier and put the filter into operation.
ATTENTION:
Reducers should not be used on the outlet in order to ensure that the flow of water out of the filter is as
easy as possible. If a drain hose or drain pipe is used, it should always be installed with a slope to the
pond.
