Step 3/ Checking speaker connection (for THF25 & THF35)
Correct function Press the left-hand button (indicated by loud-speaker symbol) on the
diagnostic adapter to create a 1000Hz tone, or the right-hand button (also
indicated by loud-speaker symbol) to create a 100Hz tone. These tones should
be heard clearly through the passenger side front speaker of the vehicle. To
stop the tones simply depress the same button you pressed to start the tone.
While the tone is playing, the mute function should also engage (see step 4 of
this manual).
Remedy
If there is no tone, the tone is unclear or the tone comes through a different
speaker than the front passenger speaker, check the wiring connections. Please
refer to the trouble-shooting guide for this procedure.
Step 4/ Checking radio-mute connection (for THF25 & THF35)
Correct function Press the upper button in order to mute the vehicle radio (the upper diode will
turn yellow when the mute function is engaged). Pressing the button a second
time will reactivate the radio signal and cancel the mute function (the radio
must be turned on for it to be reactivated).
Remedy
If the vehicle radio does not mute when the mute function is toggled on
(upper diode showing in green) check the wiring connections. Please refer to
the trouble-shooting guide for this procedure.
Step 5/ Checking microphone and overall system
Correct function To test the microphone connection it is possible to make a short voice
recording (20 secs) on the diagnostic adapter. To do this, press the central
button (marked with the 'record' symbol) and record a short sentence by
talking normally, from the driver's position, and towards the microphone. It is
advisable first to press the mute button (see step 4) before making a recording.
To interrupt the recording before the end of the 20 secs simply press the
record button a second time. While the diagnostic adapter is in record mode,
the lower diode will flash red.
To play the recording, press the lower button. During playback mode the lower
diode will turn red. The mute function will also engage (see step 4). If no
recording has been made and the playback button is pressed the lower diode
will flash red for a brief time and then switch off again. During playback, the
recording should be heard clearly (through the loudspeaker of the system for
THF15 and through the front passenger side speaker for the THF25 and THF35).
Remedy
If the recording cannot be clearly heard, first check the speaker function (see
step 3 of this manual). If the speaker is functioning correctly check the
connection of the microphone to the system and the position of the
microphone in the vehicle. Please refer to the installation manual to check the
position and the trouble-shooting guide for the procedure on how to check
the microphone connection.
