General
Please read this instruction manual carefully so that you are able to utilize the full functional range
of the THF*5 hands-free set when using the diagnostic adapter.
With the THF*5 diagnostic adapter you can safely and quickly check the operation and function of
the THF*5 hands-free set without the need to use a mobile phone. The diagnostic adapter should
only be used once the THF*5 kit has been installed according to the Toyota installation manual.
Should you encounter any problems with the kit's functionality, please refer to the THF*5 trouble-
shooting guide before replacing any parts.
Using the THF*5 Diagnostic Adapter
The diagnostic adapter should be placed into the THF*5 holder in place of the phone cradle. With
the adapter in place, you can test the installation and operation of the THF*5 kit.
Symbols can be seen around the control panel and in the middle of the THF*5 diagnostic adapter.
Each symbol indicates a step or status enabling you to check the hands-free set.
Step 1/ Checking B+ power connection
Correct function With the adapter in place, turn the key to the ACC position and then turn it
back again. The left-hand diode (indicated by 'B+' symbol) should illuminate(*)
to show a correct connection of the B+ signal between the THF*5 kit and the
vehicle. This diode should remain illuminated even after the key is removed. It
should only switch off again if the diagnostic adapter is removed from the
THF*5 kit or the vehicle battery is disconnected.
Remedy
If the left-hand diode does not illuminate then there is a problem with the B+
connection between the THF*5 system and the vehicle. Please refer to trouble-
shooting guide for steps on checking wiring connections.
(*) The left-hand diode will illuminate in two different colours. If a THF15 or THF25 system is
installed then the diode will illuminate in green. If the THF35 system is installed, the diode will
illuminate in yellow (to indicate that it has detected a DSP device).
Step 2/ Checking ACC power connection
Correct function With the adapter in place and the ignition key turned to the ACC position, the
right–hand diode (indicated by 'ACC' symbol) should illuminate in green to
show a correct connection of the ACC signal between the THF*5 kit and the
vehicle. This diode indicates that the THF*5 kit is supplied with the correct
voltage. It should turn off again when the key is removed.
Remedy
If the right-hand diode does not illuminate with the key in ACC position, there is
a problem with the ACC connection between the THF*5 system and the vehicle.
Please refer to trouble-shooting guide for steps on checking wiring connections.
