The installation should take no more than a few minutes using the
instructions below. We also have additional resources to illustrate
the different steps which can be found on our website
www.chickenguard.com or by contacting our friendly Tech
support team at support@chickenguard.com.
1 Attach the control box to your coop slightly aligned to the right so
that the string is positioned at the centre of the coop door.
The bead on the string acts as a "stopper" to let sensor know
where the fully open position is. You can adjust its location by
loosening the string around it and moving it up or down. For the
closed position, the sensor will use the floor of your coop.
2 Install the 4X AA batteries included.
3 Pull the plastic strip from the box and tighten the screws on the
front panel
4 Connect the red/black from the motor to the white socket on the
inside of the front panel labelled "Motor
5 Attach the front panel using the 4x M4 screws provided.
6 When the screen is on, Press Menu and scroll to the Setup
Wizard. Press the Menu button again to get started. "By pressing
the UP or DOWN buttons you can navigate through the menus."
7 Press UP or Down to choose your language and press Menu to
save.
8 Set the time format. Press UP or DOWN to set the hour and then
Menu to save. Press UP or DOWN to set the minutes and then
Menu to save.
9 Select YES with the UP button to continue.
10 Your ChickenGuard will automatically start the calibration.
When the bead reaches the blue stopper, it will record this as
the fully open position. Then it will start closing and record the
fully closed position when the door reaches a hard stop), it will
then automatically open. The screen will then say COMPLETE.
NOTE. The autocalibration works best when the string flows
vertically. To use pulleys or set up your ChickenGuard at
an angle, removal of the bead and a manual calibration will
