▪ When sawing, the footplate must always face against the workpiece. The
saw blade can become wedged and lead to loss of control over the
machine.
▪ When the cut is completed, switch off the machine and then pull the saw
blade out of the cut only after it has come to a standstill. This way you can
avoid kickback and can place down the machine securely.
▪ Use only sharp, flawless saw blades. Bent or blunt saw blades can break or
cause kickback.
▪ Do not slow down the saw blade by applying side pressure after switching
off. The saw blade can be damaged, break or cause kickback.
▪ Do not cut or saw where there might be hidden electric wires, gas or water
pipes.
▪ Use suitable detectors to determine if utility lines are hidden in the work
area or call the local utility company for assistance. Contact with electric
lines can lead to fire and electric shock. Damaging a gas line can lead to
explosion. Penetrating a water line causes property damage or may cause
an electric shock.
▪ Ensure that the lighting is adequate.
▪ Ensure that the reciprocating saw blade is securely fixed in the holder.
Insecure accessories can be ejected from the machine causing a hazard.
▪ Do not exert pressure on to the tool. To do so would shorten its service
life.
▪ If you are interrupted when operating a reciprocating saw, complete the
process and switch off before looking up.
▪ Where possible, use clamps or a vice to hold your work.
▪ Examine the tool holder regularly for signs of wear or damage. Have
damaged parts repaired by a qualified service centre.
▪ Always wait until the reciprocating saw has come to a complete stop
before putting it down.
▪ Periodically check all nuts, bolts and other fixings and tighten where
necessary.
▪ Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only
identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power
tool is maintained.
