Operation Manual for heat exchangers
5. Handling, Storage and Installation
The units must only be transported and stored upright. Any damages have to be reported immediately and must be filed with the freight forwarder.
Nonobservance of the transport and installation instructions will void any warranty.
Air-to-water heat exchanger must only be operated in the prescribed position (upright).
During storage and transportation below freezing point, any water present in the heat exchanger must be completely drained before initial operation.(By
blowing with an opened valve compressed air in the flow direction.)
6. General Safety Precautions
•
The unit conforms with the effective VDE- and accident prevention regulations (BGH).
•
Protection against contact of rotating parts (fan) is provided.
•
For maintenance, cleaning or repair work, the air conditioner and the cabinet have to be shut down and powered-off.
During operation, touching of the fan, the compressor or other live parts can lead to severe injuries.
•
Maintenance, repair and cleaning work must only be done by trained personnel.
•
Only fuses specified on the type plate must be used.
•
Aggressive cleaning agents may damage the unit.
•
The unit may only be operated in flawless condition. If malfunctions are observed, the unit has to be shut down immediately.
•
Always power-off the unit before opening the cover.
•
Only open cover if unit is powered-off and fan is not moving.
7. General Description
•
Maintenance: The häwa air-to-water heat exchanger is maintenance-free. It is important to ensure that the drainage of the condensate is not
clogged.
•
For trouble-free operation it is absolutely essential that the air inlet and air outlet are not blocked or covered up and that hoses and tubes are not
kinked.
•
Maintenance work on the freon circle and the electrical compartment must only be performed by trained personnel. These have to make sure that
the unit is shut off and power-less.
•
Voltage requirements and technical details are listed on the type plate. The power connection has to be through a separator (with a minimum of
3mm contact opening if shut off).
•
The electrical connection must only be done by a qualified electrician under compliance with all relevant VDE-guidelines and the applicable local
electrical requirements.
•
The cabinet to be cooled must have protection class IP 54 or higher to ensure that excessive condensation is avoided.
•
Should inner air release through the condensation drainage nozzle be avoided, it is advised to install a siphon drainage hose and to fill it with water.
8. Usage / Performace (intended use, misuse)
This air-water heat exchanger is designed exclusively to dissipate heat from enclosures to protect temperature sensitive components. For appropriate
operation of the device all information and remarks of the operating manual and the related technical datasheet have to be respected. Improper use of
the device may cause damage to the equipment, property, the environment, or cause injury to personnel. Unserviceable devices must be disposed of
properly and according to environmental regulations.
The air inside the cabinet gets ventilated by utilizing the counter currant principle through a finned heat exchanger in which a coolant flows. The hot air
is directed by a fan over the aluminium fins of the heat exchanger which cools the air and then recycles it into the cabinet. The fan operates continuously,
thus ensuring a constant circulation of the air in the cabinet, whereby the coolant heats up and is returned with an elevated temperature to the coolant
supply system.
To save costs and protect the environment, the elevated temperature of the coolant through re-cooling systems or cold water circulation, is reduced by
using it for the heat exchanger. In this process the cooling medium circulates in a closed circuit.
Devices with a built-in solenoid: the enclosure air is constantly circulated whereby the fan is constantly running on power. The solenoid valve in the water
supply is switched through the thermostat.
Cabinet temperature > set temperature: valve opens
Cabinet temperature < set temperature, minus approximately 7K hysteresis: valve closes
The inner cabinet temperature is factory-set at 35 °C. This value has proven ideal for most standard electronics and should not be changed. Adjustments
can be made on the internal thermostats, but are the full responsibility of the user.
9. Legal Regulations (Liabilities, Warranties)
häwa offers a limited 12 months warranty from the date of delivery based on our terms and conditions. We guarantee that our products leave our factory
in perfect condition, and have been assembled correctly. The warranty does not apply to impairment of tools and wear & tear parts on technical equip-
ment. For justified warranty claims, häwa reserves the right to repair the unit at no cost in our facilities or replace the unit for free.
The warranty expires if:
•
misuse of the equipment
•
inappropriate work with the equipment
•
use of incorrect materials
•
use of non-genuine replacement parts
•
user error
•
non-observance of instruction manual
•
unauthorized modifications of the device
All rights reserved by häwa for any technical changes as part of the developement of the device. No claim possible on devices already delivered based
on this instruction manual.
