b) Do not operate the electrical device in
explosive atmospheres, such as in the
presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust.
Electronic devices create sparks which might ignite
the dust or fumes.
c) Keep children and bystanders away while
operating a power tool. Distractions can cause
you to lose control.
3.2

a) Do not expose electrical devices to rain or
wet conditions. Water entering an electrical

Personal Safety
a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use
common sense when operating an electrical

you are tired or under the influence of drugs,
alcohol or medication.
A moment of inattention while operating electrical
devices may result in serious personal injury.
b) Use personal protective equipment. Always
wear eye protection. Protective equipment such
as a dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat or
hearing protection, depending on the type and
application of the electrical device, will reduce
personal injuries.
c) Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the

up or carrying the electrical device. Carrying
electrical devices with your finger on the switch or
energising devices that have the switch on invites

switch. Electrical devices that can no longer be
switched on or off are dangerous and must be
repaired immediately.

changing accessories, or storing devices.
Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of
starting the electrical device accidentally.
