Make sure that the clutch nut (C) is tightened, turn clockwise.
If the chain has come out of the gipsy (G) while anchoring put it
back in and free the chain from the chainstopper (K).
Turn the brake (B) until it is free.
Switch on the electric motor in order to haul up the chain using
a foot operated or hand operated switch.
Be aware that the hauling drum (D) will also turn
While hauling up the chain sail slowly towards the anchor using
the engine; this will prevent overloading the anchor windlass
electric motor..
If the motor should become overloaded and stop, switch it off
immediately.
Manual operation
The windlass must be operated manually in order to pull the
anchor loose from the water bed and to haul in the last bit of
the chain.
Put the lever (H) in the wheel and move the lever back and
forwards.
Maintenance
Check the oil level regularly.
Carry out the following maintenance at least once every 6
months:
- Dismantle the various parts as shown in the drawing.
Clean, check and grease the parts shown.
Use Multipurpose Lithium grease no. 2 (Outboard gear
grease).
- Follow the manufacturer's instructions for battery mainte-
nance. VETUS batteries are maintenance free.
When sailing in salt water the anchor windlass should be rinsed
off regularly with clean fresh water.
