Areas of application

Double-sphere rubber expansion joint for isolating heat pumps
and heating systems. Absorbs oscillations and movements
caused by pumps, compressors, fittings and other sources, re-
duces noise output and evens out internal strain (axial and lateral
deviations) stemming from imprecisions in assembly.
bellows, malleable - steel internal threads of connection, serv-
ice temperature -10°C to 110°C.

General safety information:

Work for installation, start-up and maintenence must only be car-
ried out by qualified and authorised persons. The respective na-
tional regulations (e.g. DIN) and technical connection require-
ments must be observed.
ATTENTION!
The system must be depressurised, allowed to cool down and drained
prior to any installation or maintenance work.
In order to guarantee the functionality of the expansion joints and
not shorten their working lives due to any additional stress, a
number of rules should be observed:
Expansion joints must be installed in such a way that their posi-
tion and movement are not impeded.
During assembly and after installation, care should be taken not
to displace the bellows or subject them to any form of torsional
strain.
The bellows should be protected against any damage arising
from external mechanical, thermal or chemical influences. The
bellows convolutions must be completely free from any contami-
nation.

Installation
ATTENTION!
The double-sphere expansion joints must be installed in the heat flow and
heat return as close as possible to the heat pump (oscillating unit) in
order to avoid further parts from oscillating along with it.
EPDM
Installation can be done either horizontally or vertically. Preference
should be for horizontal installation though!
The unit of pipework must be installed directly behind the expan-
sion joint through a fixed point (e.g. pipe clamps) to absorb any
expansion or oscillation. Installation is carried out without any
pre-stressing. No weight from the pipework may be exerted on
the expansion joint.
Fig. 2.1:
Attachment to the heat pump is achieved using fixed points.

Installation
ATTENTION!
The double-sphere expansion joints do not require pre-stressing!
The threaded couplings from the expansion joint must be un-
screwed prior to installation. The threaded couplings must then
be screwed into the pipework in such a way that there remains a
gap the size of the bellows' installation length between the
threaded couplings.
The sealing surfaces must be parallel to each other and perpen-
dicular to the pipe axis.
Following the installation of the threaded couplings, the bellows
(with the seals) must be placed between the threaded couplings
and screwed tightly to seal.

After installation, connections that can be loosened should be
tested for tightness. Clean the expansion joint.
