3. Installation instructions

3.1 Inserting an insert.
When installing an insert, local and/or national fire safety regulations must be
observed. In case of doubt, consult the fire prevention department of the local fire
department, especially when installing in a house with flammable walls and/or
floors.
It is not permitted to connect several appliances to a single smoke/fire duct.
3.2 Combustion channel
If there are no combustion ducts, have one installed only by an authorized
specialist. The combustion channel must comply with local regulations and is
important as it is decisive for the proper functioning of the appliance.
Some basic rules:
An open fire channel is by definition not suitable for a closed appliance (i.e. an
appliance with doors).
Since a closed appliance draws in much less (cold) air, the combustion gases are
hotter. Make sure that the channel is suitable for an appliance that can be closed.
The chimney opening must extend at least 5 meters beyond the upper part of the
appliance door opening.
The chimney must protrude a minimum of 40cm from a sloping roof and a minimum
of 1.2 meters from a flat roof. The chimney must therefore open into a pressure-
free zone. Contact the local chimney sweep for the exact fixing of the chimney
mouth.
In principle, elbows are not permitted. The maximum deflection of the drawn line is
45°.
Both dimensions and construction must meet detailed construction standards. The
certified specialist is aware of these.
Contact your fire insurance company so that your policy remains compliant.
