Slow motion
Slow motion in the direction of the movement can be achieved by slightly reducing the flash rate after observing
the freeze picture. By a slightly increased flash rate it is possible to obtain the slow motion effect in the opposite
direction of the movement.
Auto Off (SMS-300 / DT-3xx only)
If the automatic power-off function has already been programmed (see General Settings), the timer will be
activated each time the instrument is turned on until it is automatically switched off.
Measurements with external trigger signals
General remarks
The flash rate of the stroboscope can also be determined by an appropriate external signal transmitter (sensor).
In this case the knob can no longer be utilised for adjusting the frequence.
The flash is triggered each time the flank of the signal rises. The trigger edge lies at approx. 2,5VDC. For
instruments from the SMS-300 / DT-3xx series the trigger signal can be programmed also by sinking edges (see
General Settings).
When the output frequence exceeds or underruns the operation range of the stroboscope, the flashes will no
longer be produced, and a warning sign will blink in the display.

SMS-300 / DT-3xx
SMS-300 / DT-3xx Series stroboscopes can supply the sensor directly. A plug for the sensor adaptor is included
in the delivery. For SMS-200 Series stroboscopes the sensor must be supplied seperately. The receptacles are
designed for a 3.5mm Phonoadaptor (signal at each peak).
Operation modes RPM/FPM
The operation modes RPM/FPM can be selected by pressing the Mode button (standard operation mode by SMS-
200 / DT-72x) and are shown on the display. In the operation mode RPM the input frequence will be displayed as
flash per minute.
