After you have recorded the index finger, middle fin-
ger, ring finger and little finger prints in turn, repeat
the procedure for the thumb, printing its fingerprint on
the fingerprint record card. In this way, patterns of all
fingerprints of the right hand have been recorded on
these cards (as shown in Figure 6).

Fill out fingerprint record cards (as shown in
Figures 7 and 8)
After making records for fingerprints, remember to note
down date, name, age and right hand as shown in the
figures. Then look at the fingerprint characteristics ca-
refully with a magnifying glass: write down any special
marks, lines and little scars visible on the fingerprint in
the Notes column. To protect the fingerprint patterns,
an additional round transparent sticker can be placed
over the pattern. Record the five fingers of the left hand
in the same way.

Anmerkung:
You can also make records like this by pressing your
fingerprints down. Pressing down and rolling are two
ways for printing fingerprints. The method described
above is the rolling method. Pressing down is also
called plane printing. Using this method, your fingers
are folded in, leaving only the targeted finger extending
out to make a print on the card. Fingerprints obtained
in this way can supplement those obtained by rolling fin-
gers. This is because fingerprint patterns extend almost
half way along the surface of a whole finger and some
areas that need to be categorized are often close to the
edges of the fingerprints, so the rolling method often
fails to show them all (as shown in Figure 9).

Comparing and categorizing fingerprints
Next, use the fingerprint record cards (7) and the ma-
gnifying glass (3) to see the type of the fingerprint pat-
tern you have obtained. Look at your fingerprint „crime
scene" card (6) and check whether there are the same
fingerprints. Record the result on the fingerprint record
cards.
Step 10:
We can play a cops and robbers game with this equip-
ment. First, follow the method described above to make
fingerprint record cards for everyone playing the game.
Then look for fingerprints at the „crime scene". The
