INTRODUCTION
The BHC4001 is a device specially developed for use with infrared heating appliances. Thanks to its
rated output of 4 kW, you can regulate many different heating and lighting appliances with it. You
can select the setting which is the best suited and most pleasant for you via a ten-level regulator.
As great value was put on energy-saving operation during development, the BHC4001 regulates
the heating output electronically without significant power loss. The appliance can be optionally
operated with a remote control. The service life of your heating lamp can be extended by 30%
with the integrated soft start-up function.
APPLICATIONS
All applications where a higher input current is problematic or has to be regulated. Typical use:
infrared heating lamps, garden lighting. The BHC4001 should not be used with fluorescent or energy-
saving lamps or halogen transformers, etc. No electric motors may be operated with the BHC4001
either. The entire product may not be altered or converted. The safety instructions must be
observed. Never use consumers with a combined total output of more than 4 kW.
FUNCTIONS
Soft start – up to 30%, longer service life of the lamp. Setting the output from 30% to 100% in 10
steps Optional: control via remote control (BHCR1, not included in delivery).
SAFETY
Please read through these instructions carefully before installation and start-up of the product.
(See warning for more information.) The dimmer is designed with a protective conductor and may
only be connected to and operated with 230 V AC networks with protective earthing. Check your
BHC4001 from time to time for damage. If safe operation is no longer possible, the appliance must
be immediately disabled and secured against unintentional operation. It must be assumed safe
operation is no longer possible if the appliance has visible damage or no longer works.
ASSEMBLY
The BHC4001 must be connected by authorised technical staff and may only assembled and
operated when permanently installed/bolted (there are four drill holes d=5 mm on the left and
right underneath the cover lid) on a firm, non-combustible and non-deformable base. To
guarantee functioning of the cooling ribs attached on the rear of the BHC4001 a minimum
distance of 10 mm must be observed between the BHC4001 and wall/attachment point through
the use of spacers (not included in delivery) beneath the drill holes. The BHC4001 may not be
connected before this attachment. The cabling of the one to two consumers can be found in the
adjacent sketch. To power down the BHC4001 provision must be made for a corresponding switch
in the power line (not included in delivery).
OPERATION
After permanent installation/attachment of the dimmer, the heating output can be regulated in ten
levels. To increase the output press the button with red triangle pointing upwards. To reduce the
output, press the button to its right with the triangle pointing downwards.
