STRAIGHT GRAB BAR
TOOLS NEEDED
Electric Drill and 3/4" Bit
CERTIFICATION
Grab bar meets or exceeds the applicable
requirements of all building codes, ADA criteria, 2010
ADAAG and 2009 ANSI standards.
RECOMMENDED INTEGRATION
For hollow wall construction, it is recommended that
grab bar fasteners are used with this product. See
H-6486 instructions for applications. Grab bars are
designed to hold live loads and must be installed into
adequate structural blocking or with grab bar fasteners.
NOTE: For maximum safety and to meet ADA
requirements, grab bars should be installed
horizontally, 33 to 36" from the floor.
1. Slide snap-on cover off mounting flange to expose
screw holes. (See Figure 1)

PARTS
2. For wall surfaces with structural blocking (i.e., wall
studs), mount using six stainless steel screws included.
(See Figure 2)
a. Place mounting flange against wall at desired
height and mark three screw holes with pencil.
b. Repeat for second flange.
c. Set grab bar aside and drill holes into wall where
marked.
d. Place grab bar back on wall and secure screws
into drilled holes.
e. Slide snap-on cover over each mounting flange.

3. For hollow wall construction, it is recommended to
use the H-6486 600 lb. capacity fasteners or H-6487
800 lb. capacity fasteners to mount the grab bar.
