HDCP Copy protection
In order to transmit a video if content is copy-protected, the source, splitter and display must support HDCP copy protection.
The copy protection HDCP exists in 2 versions, namely HDCP 1.4 and 2.2. Ultra-HD (called 4k for short) uses HDCP 2.2. There-
fore, only newer 4k devices can display copy-protected movies from an external source in 4k. On 4k displays that only support
HDCP 1.4, only a Full-HD (1080p) display is possible. Intermediate HDMI components such as AV receivers, splitters and HDMI
repeaters must also support the HDCP version.
The HDMI sources behave differently when a non-HDCP compatible HDMI device is connected. Some will display an error mes-
sage and no image will be output. For others, there is an error message when playing a protected movie
EDID Switch
A connected TV, AV receiver or projector signals its capabilities via EDID. The HDMI source then provides the most suitable
picture and sound format. If you operate 2 devices with different resolutions, you can manually change the mode with the EDID
switch.
Copy:
The output only depends on the capabilities of the device at output 4. So the HDMI source only recognizes this
device, the splitter delivers the same signal at output 1–3. Therefore the device at HDMI out 4 must be
switched on. The EDID information of this device is stored in the splitter until the power is disconnected.
Auto:
Fixed output in 4k@60Hz stereo, forces a 4K signal (exception: invalid copy protection)
Mixed:
Output in the best possible resolution of the connected devices, so that all can process the signal. If a 4K signal
is supplied, the splitter will convert it to 1080p for a Full-HD-TV.
