□ Never attempt to operate the pump without priming water or the pump will overheat.
□ Extended dry operation will destroy the pump seal.
□ If the pump has been operated dry, stop the engine immediatly and allow the pump to cool
before adding priming water.
Before starting the engine, make sure to fill the pump with water:
1.
Screw off the priming cap [Fig.  1 4];
2.
Fill the pump fully with clear water [Fig.  1 5];
3.
Rescrew the priming cap.
□ Don't screw off the priming cap during operation of the pump to avoid damaging the equipment
and injuring persons.
□ Never run the pump without priming water, which will cause the pump to overheat.

5.2. STARTING THE PUMP

□ Check that the suction pipe is properly connected to the suction port.
□ Check that the discharge pipe is properly connected to the discharge port.
□ Check that the suction hose is equipped with a strainer.
□ Check that the suction pipe is well set in water.
□ Check that the suction and discharge hose are free of narrow throats or bends.
□ Check that the priming of the pump has been carried out.
The following instructions apply to each starting:
1.
Press the priming bulb repeatedly until fuel can be seen in the clear-plastic fuel-return tube
[Fig.  1 6];
Put ON / OFF switch to ON (START) position [Fig. 17];

Put the speed control to fast H (HIGH SPEED) position [Fig. 18];
3.
If the engine is cold, put the CHOKE LEVER to CHOKE (CLOSED) position [Fig. 19];

Slightly pull the recoil starter rope until it becomes a bit difficult. This is the "compression" point
[Fig. 20]. Let the rope coil back to its initial position;

Then rapidly pull it [Fig. 21];
□ Do not fully pull the rope out and do not suddenly release it. Handle it gently until it is reeled in.
