SMONTAVALVOLE PNEUMATICO
PNEUMATIC VALVE LIFTER

USAG 438 P unit is a pneumatic device specially designed for assembling and
disassembling diesel and petrol engine valves. Any other type of application shall be
considered improper and incorrect. The manufacturer shall consequently be deemed free
of any responsibility for applications other than those specified.
ASSEMBLY:
The device is supplier ready assembled. Simply remove it from its case.
STARTING UP:
The compressed air line for the device must be connected. Make sure that the pressure
rating is set between 6 and 8 bar. If pressure exceeds this value, reduce it accordingly (for
example pressure reducer).
APPLICATION:
The device is supplier ready for use. Simply select and mount on
the device the spring compression ring (extractor) most suitable
for the valve to be disassembled (see Fig.2, pos.1). Slacken the
screw (see Fig.2, pos.2) which locks the cylinder (see Fig.2,
pos.3) on the arm (see Fig.2, pos.4) and operate the pneumatic
control (see Fig.2, pos.5). The cylinder will now slide very slowly
inside its housing until it reaches the end stop, thereby detecting
the valve height. Close the pneumatic control (see Fig.2, pos.5)
so that the cylinder advances by one notch (see Fig.2, pos.3) one
notch (equivalent to 1 cm). With twin springs, advance the
cylinder by 2 notches. Tighten the fixing screw (see Fig.2, pos.2).
Open the pneumatic control again in order to compress the valve
spring so that the collets can be removed (see Fig.3).
If the collets remain blocked, use a wooden or plastic mallet to
shift them. To reassemble the valve, simply reverse the above
operation.
LONG-TERM INACTIVITY:
When the device is left idle for long periods of time, simply
disconnect the compressed air line (the pneumatic unit s
constructed in self-lubrificating material).
DISMANTUNG OF DEVICE
When dismantling the device, proceed as follows:
a – disconnect the compressed air line.
b – remove the valve from its seat
c – discard the old device in accordance with procedures
governing the disposal of the material from which it is constructed.
