7. Replace the cutting bar resp.
have a blunt or damaged cutting
bar sharpened by a professional
only.
Please note that a re-sharpened
cutting bar has to be rebalanced,
especially when the cutting bar
has been abused by hitting a
foreign object.
The cutting bar can only be
installed in one direction.
8. Re-tighten the screw by turning
clockwise. Hold the cutting bar
firmly in order to keep the spindle
from turning.
Mowing Hints
Do not cut the blades of grass too low. Do not cut more than one-third of
the grass blades, as grass needs to be long enough to absorb sunshine
for growing and developing.
Keep the cutting bar as sharp as possible. A blunt blade will not cut but
tear off the grass blades.
Mulch the lawn from time to time. One reason to do so is to avoid the
endless chore of bagging; another reason is that the grass clippings return
valuable nutrients to the soil. This will save one fertilizer application per
year.
Fertilize the lawn from time to time, but fertilize only when the lawn is
actively growing in order to build up the roots. The active growth time is
when temperatures are between 15 °C and 25 °C. Fertilize the lawn when
it is freshly mowed and there is light dew on the ground. To improve the
fertilizer's efficiency, water the lawn soon after an application, or try to
apply fertilizer just before it rains.
Correct irrigation of the lawn depends on many environmental conditions,
such as too much sun, low humidity, high temperatures and wind as well
as excessive foot traffic on the lawn will dry out the soil and thus the lawn
will need much more water. The best time of the day for watering is early
in the morning.
