Listening to FM station with RDS
RDS (Radio Data System) permits FM stations to send additional
signals with the regular programme signals. For example, the stations
send their station names and information about what type of broadcast
programmes, such as sports or music, etc.
Note:
-
Some FM stations do not provide RDS service.
-
RDS may not work correctly if the signal strength is weak.
-
RDS is not available for AM broadcasts.
Selecting the RDS display mode
1. When tuning in an FM station which provides the RDS service, the
"PS" RDS mode is set automatically, the station name and "
appear on the display.
2. Press the RDS/PLAY MODE button repeatedly to select "PS", "PTY",
"RT", "CT" or "Frequency". Related informations will appears.
PS (Programme Service)
"PS" appears on the display, then station name is displayed. If no PS
signal is received, "NO PS" appears briefl y, then station frequency is
displayed.
PTY (Programme Type)
"PTY" appears, then broadcast programme type is displayed. If no
PTY signal is received, "NO PTY" appears, then station name or
station frequency is displayed.
RT (Radio Text)
"RT" appears, then text messages sent by station will be displayed.
If no RT signal is received, "NO TEXT" appears.
CT (Clock Time)
"CT" appears, then the clock time sent by station will be displayed. If
no CT signal is received, "NO CT" appears.
Frequency
Station frequency appears.
On characters displayed
When the display shows PS, PTY, RT or CT signals:

The display shows upper case letters only.

The display cannot show accented letters:
For example, "A" may represent accented "A's" like "Á", "À", "Ã", "Â",
"Å" and "Ä".
To search a station by PTY (Programme Type) codes
A particular programme type broadcast can be located by specifying the
PTY codes.
1. Press the PTY SEARCH button, "PTY SEL" blinks on the display.
2. Press the e or f button to select the desired PTY code.The
code changes as shown below:
NEWS: News
AFFAIRS: Current affairs
INFO: Information
SPORT: Sport
EDUCATE: Education
DRAMA: Drama
CULTURE: Culture
SCIENCE: Science
VARIED: Varied
POP M: Pop music
ROCK M: Rock music
MOR M: Middle of the road music
(easy-listening)
LIGHT M: Light classics
CLASSICS: Serious classics
OTHER M: Other music
WEATHER: Weather
FINANCE: Finance
CHILDREN: Children's programmes

band and stop when it fi nds a broadcast of the selected PTY code,

To continue searching after the fi rst stop, repeat steps 1~3 again.

If no broadcast is found, "NOT FOUND" appears, then the original
station is heard.

To cancel searching, press the PTY SEARCH button once.
LISTENING TO OTHER SOURCES (Fig.5)
1. Press the FUNCTION button to select "AUX".
2. Follow the instructions supplied with the video/auxiliary equipment.
RECORDING
Recording copyright material without permission of the copyright owners
is usually an infringement. If you wish to re-record copyright material,
permission from the copyright owner is necessary. SANYO does not

machine.
Recording from discs, USB or SD
(Synchronous recording)
1. Load a blank cassette.
2. Select "CD" or "USB" or "SD" function.
3. Load the disc or insert an USB memory device or an SD card to be
recorded.

Select the track number if required.
-
For programmed recording, programme the material in
advance (as described under "Programmed play").
4. Press the M button. The A button is engaged simultaneously and
CD recording starts.

When you want to record music as you listen, press the M
button. Recording starts automatically from the beginning of
the track.
5. Press the N/Q button to stop recording.
When the end of the tape is reached, the deck and the playback of CD
or USB memory device or SD card stop automatically.
Recording from the tuner
1. Load a blank cassette.
2. Tune in the radio button to be recorded.
3. Press the M button to start recording.
4. Press the N/Q button to stop recording.
When beat is heard
Beat (a high-pitched noise) may sometimes be heard during the recording
of radio broadcasts. If this occurs, set the BEAT CANCEL switch (the
rear of the unit) to 1 or 2 position the reduces the level of the beat noise.
Safeguards against accidental erasure
Accidental erasure can be prevented by breaking out the tabs on the end
of the cassette tape (where the tape is not exposed) using a screwdriver
or similar implement (Fig. 11).
If a tab is broken out in error and you wish to re-record the tape, simply
block the tab hole using adhesive tape and the tape can be used for
recording again.
