Driver/Software Installation
The drivers included are only required for the SIM card reader integrated in the card reader.
The drivers for reading/writing of common memory cards (SD, MS, etc.) are integrated in the
operating system.
Switch on your computer and wait until the operating system has booted completely.
Place the CD supplied in the appropriate drive on your computer. If the installation programme does not start
automatically, you must start it manually e.g. in the Windows File Manager (the installation programme in the
main directory of the CD is named e.g. "autorun.exe" or similar).
Follow all instructions of the software or the operating system.
Connection
First install the driver and the software of the CD supplied, unless done already.
Connect the card reader to a free USB port on your computer or a USB hub.
When fi rst connected to the computer, Windows recognises the card reader and completes the driver instal-
lation.
If the connection is made without any faults, the power LED lights.
Important information for Windows 7:
Further steps for installation are necessary when using the operating system Windows 7 so that the SIM
cards can be read/written on.
Proceed as follows:
• If not done so yet, install the driver/software fi rst as describe above in the chapter "Driver/Software Instal-
lation".
• Connect the card reader to the computer. Windows 7 then does not fi nd a required driver and recognises
an "eHome" infrared receiver instead (Windows 7 then signals that the installation failed).
• Open the Device Manager in the Control Panel.
To do this, select the function "Hardware and Sound" under "Control Panel".
Click on "Device Manager".
• The "eHome infrared receiver (USBCIR)" is not labelled with an exclamation mark under "USB Controller",
as Windows 7 was unable to start the hardware.
• Click on "eHome infrared receiver (USBCIR)" with the right mouse button and select "Update Driver Soft-
ware...".
• Then select "Search for driver software on the computer".
• Click on "Select from a list of device drivers on the computer".
• The following dropdown menu may include e.g. "eHome infrared receiver (USBCIR)" and "USB connection
device".
• Click on the entry "USB connection device" and "Continue".
Now the driver will be installed correctly; Windows signals "The driver software was updated successfully".
• Click on "Close". Thereafter, the product is also available under Windows 7 with all its functions.

Reading/writing to memory cards
An inserted memory card is used like a common mass storage drive; a drive letter is allocated automatically
by Windows.
For instance, with Windows fi le manager you can read the data on the memory card (or store data on the
memory card) in the same way as you use the hard disk or a USB stick.
Removing a Memory Card, unplugging a Card Reader
If a read/write access is underway to the memory card, wait until it is fi nished.
Only then can a memory card be removed from the card reader or the card reader can be disconnected
from the computer.
Tips & Notes
• Ensure that the read-only access (slide switch on the memory card; if available) is in the off position when
• Use preferably a USB2.0 port for connecting the card reader.

• Always remove the memory card or the SIM card fi rst, before switching off the computer.

The inserts for SD and microSD memory cards cannot be used at the same time .
If the memory card is removed during read/write access or the card reader is disconnected from

deleting from, or writing to, SD/MS memory cards.
The maximum data signalling rate used by USB1.1 is only about 800kByte/s.
With USB2.0, several Mbyte/s are possible, depending on the speed of your memory card! Thus, for faster
transfer always use a USB2.0 port for the card reader (a tremendous saving of time during data transfer).
