Power cord storage
Depending on the model, your waffle iron
has either a power cord wind-up storage or a
cord storage compartment.
Always take the power cord out of its
storage compartment and unwind it to its full
length before use.
Wind up or restore the power cord to the
storage compartment only after the waffle
iron has cooled down completely.
Before initial use
The waffle iron should be preheated for ten
minutes with the lids closed. This will
remove the smell typically encountered
when first switching on the waffle iron.
Please ensure sufficient ventilation.
(If your waffle iron has an adjustable
thermostat control, turn it to its highest
setting).
Clean the appliance afterwards as described
in Cleaning and Care.
Operation
- Close the lids.
- Plug in the appliance. The red main
indicator light comes on.
- Turn the thermostat control to its
maximum setting.
- Preheat the waffle iron for about eight
minutes. It is then ready for use.
- Once the pre-set temperature is reached,
the green 'ready'-light will come on.
- Open the two lids.
- Before use, the non-stick plates should
be lightly greased with a small amount of
oil or fat that is specifically intended for
frying and may be safely heated to high
temperatures.
- Put the dough on the middle of the lower
plate.
- Close the upper lid and press down
gently to help spread the dough evenly.
- The baking time is in general 2 - 3
minutes, depending on the nature of the
dough as well as the selected
temperature.
- Once the baking process is finished,
remove the waffle immediately. To
prevent damage to the non-stick coating,
do not use any sharp or pointed objects
to remove the food.
- Check the level of browning. Should the
waffle be too light or too dark, adjust the
temperature control or baking time.
- Place fresh dough into the waffle iron
immediately after removing the waffle.
- After use, remove the plug from the wall
socket and allow the appliance to cool
down with its cooking plates open.
Practical hints
- In order to maintain the crispness of the
waffles, place them next to each other on
a rack to cool. (Placed on top of each
other, the waffles will lose their
crispness).
- If milk is used instead of water, the
waffles will be softer and darker.
- In order to achieve even browning, all
ingredients should be of the same
temperature.
Cleaning and care
Before cleaning, remove the plug from
the wall socket and wait until the
appliance has cooled down with the
cooking plates open.
To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not
clean the appliance with water and do
not immerse it in water.
Do not use abrasives or harsh cleaning
solutions.
- Clean the outside of the appliance with a
soft, slightly damp cloth only.
- The non-stick plates can be cleaned with
a soft damp cloth or a soft brush.
