Goldmaster GT Quick Start
With the GT properly assembled and the batteries
installed, follow the instructions below to start finding
those nuggets!
1. Turn the GAIN control clockwise to the
tion. On start-up a two- second beep will indicate
the battery level is 100 %. A one-second beep will
indicate the battery level is 50%.
2. Adjust the THRESHOLD control for a faint "hum."
3. Lower the search coil to the ground and "pump"
the coil up and down 5-10 cm until the threshold
hum stabilizes.
4. Start swinging the search coil side-to-side, over-
lapping each pass. A consistent beep indicates a
possible gold nugget.
5. Inconsistent beeps ("falsing"), or a "squawk" over the ground,
indicates the GAIN is too high.
6. Once a consistent beep is located, slowly "X" the search coil
over the spot to pinpoint the target.
GT Controls
Gain Control
The GAIN control turns the GT ON and OFF adjusts the incom-
ing signal strength. You might expect increased signal strength to
always find more nuggets at greater depths. However, the incom-
ing signal is composed not only of targets but also ground and
outside noise sources. High ground mineralization can "bounce"
the signal back and mask good targets. It may be necessary to
adjust the GAIN downward to avoid masking targets or overload-
ing the circuit.
When ground mineralization is too high for the current GAIN
control setting, an audible "squawk" will sound. Reduce the GAIN
until the overload warning ceases. On occasion, while searching,
you might go over a very large or very shallow target. This will
cause the "squawk". All such targets should be checked. The GT
will self correct, and you can continue to search as normal.
Gain Adjustment
1. Set the GAIN control to the
2. If the ground mineralization is low enough, increase the GAIN
toward 10.

position.
3. If when the search coil is near the ground, the "squawk" sounds
constantly, reduce the GAIN.
4. A proper GAIN setting should maintain a smooth and constant
THRESHOLD "hum." False signals, beeps, and bonks can be the
result of running with too much GAIN.
Threshold Control
The THRESHOLD control sets the loudness of the background
"hum." This background "hum" should be set to the faintest au-
dible level in order to hear the tiniest and deepest targets. It can
be slightly scratchy or chattery. The use of headphones makes it
much easier to hear the faintest of target signals while reducing
environmental background noise.
Threshold Adjustment
1. Set the THRESHOLD all the way to the left (counterclockwise)
and then rotate it clockwise until the faintest audible level of "hum"
is attained near the

2. If the "hum" tends to disappear when sweeping the coil then
use a slower sweep speed.
3. If the "hum" is excessively chattery reduce the GAIN.
