- Page 8 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS PREPARING FOR OPERATION 1. Extend the shell fully and lock into place as shown in the enclosed instructions sheet before lighting or operating the heater. 2. Check the heater for possible shipping damage. If any is found, immediately notify the factory. 3.
